Holstein Australia is proud to announce Scott Mackie as the recipient of the 2026 Holstein Australia UK Exchange Scholarship - a life changing opportunity that will see the twenty-year-old Gippslander spend a month in the UK learning, working and representing Australian dairy youth on the international stage.
Scott has been involved in showing cows for the past 15 years, but itโs his recent experience working with different teams at major shows that has deepened his passion for high-level exhibiting.
Those opportunities have deepened his appreciation for the standards required to succeed at the top level.
A proud product of Gippsland Dairy Youth Group (GDY), Scott has competed in the Holstein Australia Youth Challenge and the GDY Youth Show for many years. Now, heโs giving back - elected joint Vice President of GDY alongside last yearโs scholarship winner Harry Dodd, helping mentor and inspire the next generation.
Working with two-time Master Breeder herd Calderlea Holsteins and their robotic dairy has further expanded Scottโs love of cows and strengthened his fascination with technology shaping modern dairy farming.
Scott describes receiving the scholarship as โan honour to represent the Australian dairy industry in the UKโ. He is eager to experience the UK show scene, learn from varied farming systems and bring fresh ideas home.
His passion continues a proud family legacy. Scottโs grandparents, John and Marilyn Mackie, founded Burn-Brae Holsteins in 1968, a tradition carried forward by his father Andrew and uncle Stuart Mackie.
During his month in the UK, Scott will be hosted by Holstein UK and HYB - Holstein Young Breeders, visiting dairy farms and gaining hands-on show experience at the South West Scotland Dairy Show and All Breeds All Britain Calf Show.
We are grateful for this continued partnership allowing for this valuable exchange to occur every year - which will see a return exchange to Australia in January 2027.
Scott follows in the footsteps of previous Australian scholarship recipients Emma Algie (2017), Amabel Grinter (2018), Oakley Henry (2019), Andrew McCrae (2023), Tahlia McSwain (2024) and Harry Dodd (2025).
