This National Cadets Week, we're celebrating the achievements of cadets and volunteers across the UK.

The cadet experience helps young people develop confidence, resilience, leadership and teamwork, while adult volunteers dedicate their time and expertise to creating life-changing opportunities.

For more than 20 years, Cadet Vocational College has helped recognise those achievements through qualifications, awards and professional recognition. Since 2000, more than 160,000 learner registrations have been made on our programmes.

We'll be sharing opportunities for both cadets and volunteers throughout the week.

Many of my friends and colleagues are aware of my Volunteer Career with Cadet Forces. This week is Cadet Forces Week, and this gives the opportunity to showcase what we do. As you can see from the attached photographs, Cadet Forces provide lifelong and lifechanging experiences for young people across a huge range of fun activities. Whatever the colour of your 'lid' (although navy blue is by far the best!), all Cadet Forces support and develop our youth and far more people than you realise have passed through Cadet Forces as youngsters and/or Adult Volunteers. Without volunteers - both in uniform and in governance roles - the magic simply does not happen. I am fortunate to lead an amazing group of volunteers across the Midlands and into Shropshire and have laid down a challenge for Cadet Forces Week to my fellow leaders within Mercia District Sea Cadets.

I want any of my friends and colleagues who have been a Cadet, Volunteer or member of any other uniformed youth group to do 3 things please:-

Firstly to break cover in the comments section and outline what the experience did for them.

Secondly - and this applies to all - consider sparing a few hours a month to support our young people either in a uniformed or governance role in an area close to you and

Finally have a think about giving me a call or pm to find out a bit more about how to get involved.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to 'outing' a few friends. Let have those comments please.....

As we get ready for National Cadets Week, we wanted to take a look back at our recent South West Area Cadet Voice Conference!

More than 50 cadets from across the South West came together for a weekend of sharing ideas and discussion which will help shape the future of Sea Cadets.

From big ideas and thoughtful conversations to plenty of fun along the way, it was a fantastic weekend — and a brilliant reminder of the enthusiasm, ambition and creativity of our cadets.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the weekend such a success! 👏
