What an absolute treat last night!
Arnaud Métairie, from French Touch Floristry, brought us ‘From Ekhaya to You’ and filled the stage with wonderful arrangements from Africa and the English countryside. We enjoyed his stories of sneaking back purchases from the wholesaler, hiding ‘stuff’ in drawers around the house (only to be rediscovered when hunting Scrabble!) and we look forward to seeing photos of what promises to be a wonderful French wedding.

Although fewer in number, we had a great evening on Tuesday creating Steam Punk designs. Alongside our Fun with Flowers group, Germaine was showing her students how to do an asymmetric triangle.
We were then given some ideas by Maggi for next month when we will using tubes!

Last night we welcomed Cathryn Brown with Floral Prescriptions and her demonstration reminded us of just what a tonic flower arranging can be. Thank you for a lovely uplifting evening.
Next month we welcome Arnaud Métairie from the Cotswolds. This will be a fantastic evening so do come along on Thursday 28th May to Trull Memorial Hall (TA3 7JZ) at 7.30.

Last night we did waterfall designs and what a variety of wonderful arrangements the group came up with! Lots of garden foliage and flowers were used which was lovely to see as spring establishes itself. A smaller group were practising vertical parallel designs with Germaine.
Next time we shall be venturing into the world of Steam Punk which will be a bit different!
It was a lovely relaxed evening and it’s great to be welcoming new people each time.

What a wonderful evening we had last week courtesy of Andrew Lloyd. His title was Mad as a March …. and by the end of the evening the stage was filled with amazing arrangements that just shouted ‘Spring’. Andrew always puts on a fabulous show and this was no exception. Creative designs, wonderful flowers and foliage and cute little spring animals!

We had a record number at our Fun with Flowers group last night and also our back to basis group started under the expert tuition of Germaine.
We attempted an Ikebana style design and the results were extremely pleasing. Help was on hand for those who weren’t too sure and once we’d walked round and discussed the different designs, Rose demonstrated a waterfall design which we shall do next month. Our next meeting is on April 14th.

As I mentioned earlier, our Fun with Flowers group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Trull Memorial Hall at 7pm. Running alongside our 2026 programme, we will be starting sessions for beginners run by one of our members who is a qualified NAFAS teacher. Germaine Smith is also a demonstrator and chair of the South West area of NAFAS teachers. We are very fortunate to have her expertise and her willingness to share.
I’ve screenshot the programme for the first four sessions and also the sheet that tells you what to bring along, with two photos of what your first design might look like - hopefully!
