We have had contact direct from an employer, based in Dunball looking to hire an experienced fork lift operator.

This is a great team of people and a very reputable business with many long standing members of staff. Please read the job description carefully and ensure you have the necessary skills before applying.

The role involves operating a forklift truck and side loader, reading and understanding paperwork, identifying timber sizes, picking and wrapping orders to ensure they're fully watertight, as well as loading and unloading lorries.

The hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, and we're looking for someone reliable, honest, and who enjoys working as part of a team.

👋 We've welcomed lots of new followers recently, so a quick introduction seems in order.

We've noticed a few comments along the lines of "that's nice, but what about the potholes?" and while we appreciate the sentiment, potholes aren't actually ours!

Taunton Town Council was created in 2023 when Somerset County Council and Somerset's four district councils, including Somerset West and Taunton, merged to form Somerset Council. Before then, Taunton was the only town in Somerset without its own town or parish council.

We're a separate organisation from Somerset Council, with different responsibilities. Somerset Council looks after things like roads, potholes, bins, street cleaning and housing. Also, we only cover the Taunton Town area, so if you live in Norton Fitzwarren or Bathpool, we aren't your council.

We focus on local community services and projects, including:
🌳 Parks and open spaces (some, but not all)
🚻 Public toilets (and we're opening more, not fewer!)
🎄 Christmas lights, trees and festive events
🌺 Floral displays around the town
🎖️ Remembrance and civic events led by the Mayor
🤝 Grants to local organisations
🏛️ Taunton Visitor Centre (funding)
📹 CCTV and Street Marshals
🎉 Supporting initiatives like Taunton Together
