Hit The Kintyre Way this year and take a walk on the wild side!

Will you come across this majestic creature along the Kintyre Way?

Throughout Scotland’s history the deer has been link to magic and monarchies. The native Red Deer in particular have always held strong links to the otherworld and the fairies. These large beasts where once known as 'Fairie cattle' to ancient communities in Scotland.

Besides the Red Deer, there are many other types of deer to encounter in Kintyre. You may come across the Sika Deer, a medium sized spotted deer who gets its name from its east asian origins...or the Fallow Deer, though similar in size and coat to the Sika it can be spotted by its palm shaped antlers. You might even chance a glance at the white rump of the small but graceful native Roe Deer.

Just off the Kintyre Way around Carradale you'll be able to find the Deer Hill Trail. It’s worth the ascent !
