🌟 The Heart of the Celebration: Thank You to Our Volunteers! 🤝

The success of the Sutton Lunar New Year event—welcoming thousands of visitors across Sutton—was only possible because of the dedication of our incredible volunteer team. 70 volunteers spent hundreds of hours in preparation to make this happen, and we owe them a massive debt of gratitude.

🏆 A Special Thank You to Our Leadership Team:

Colin: For providing vital legal support, coordinating the entire performance schedule, and keeping the energy high as one of our MCs.

Karen: Our Event Admin, who managed the complex relationships with all participating organisations and charities.

Agnes: For the beautiful decorations that transformed the library into a festive home for the community.

Billy: For leading a dedicated team of 15 volunteers who kept operations running smoothly across St Nicholas Centre and Oru Space .

Sandro: For successfully managing the high-demand Hot Food Market at Oru Space.

Vera: For overseeing the busy Festival Market and Dry Food Market at St Nicholas Centre.

Kenneth: For ensuring the safety of all attendees as our Electrical & Safety Consultant.

To every single one of our 70 volunteers: you are the backbone of this community. Thank you for your time, your passion, and your hard work!

We are still buzzing from the energy at Oru Space last Saturday! It was officially the largest event Oru Space has ever hosted, with 3,500 visitors joining us for a day of food, technology, and future-thinking.

🔥 The Hot Food Market Craze
The demand was so incredible that we had a 30-minute queue outside Oru Space, with hundreds of people eager to get up to the rooftop and the indoor stalls! Thank you all for your patience—the atmosphere at the Hot Food Market was electric, and the smells of authentic Asian street food were worth the wait!

💡 Town Hall: Shaping the Future
At the Town Hall, Ednovate 港燃's speaking sessions were packed! It was inspiring to see so many families and young people engaging with our experts:

-Helen Chan on the road to Oxbridge and Imperial.
-James Ancell from the UK Government on AI-driven career planning.
-Silviu Pirvu on the groundbreaking opportunities in Space & Deep Tech.

From the latest tech toy trials to the high-level career insights, yesterday proved that Sutton is a hub for innovation and community spirit. Thank you for making history with us!

🛍️ Festive Vibes at St Nicholas Centre ! 🦁

The energy at the St Nicholas Centre was absolutely electric last Saturday! With two floors opened up to the Lunar New Year celebration, it was a major highlight for the 3,500 visitors who joined us there.

🦁 A Performance to Remember
One of the most popular moments of the entire day was the Lion Dance on the 3rd Floor! Watching the lions weave through the crowds and the markets brought so much joy and traditional festive spirit to the shopping centre.

🍱 A Shopper’s Paradise
Our visitors were spoiled for choice across two specialized markets:

The Festival Market (Level 2): Featuring 22 stalls of beautiful handmade crafts, jewelry, and unique gifts. 🎨

The Dry Food Market (Level 3): With 16 specialist stalls offering delicious traditional treats and Asian flavors to take home. 🍪

A huge thank you to the management team at St Nicholas Centre and all our wonderful traders for making this such a successful and vibrant part of the town-wide celebration!

We were deeply honored to officially kick off our Lunar New Year celebration at Sutton Central Library with the traditional Eye-Dotting Ceremony (點睛).

A very special thank you to the Deputy Mayor of Sutton, Cllr Cumar Sahathevan, and his wife for joining us to perform this sacred ritual. By "awakening" the lions, they brought life, luck, and prosperity to our festivities and the entire Sutton community.

Having our local leadership support this cultural milestone meant so much to the 2,500 visitors at the library and the thousands more celebrating across the High Street. It was the perfect way to begin a day of unity and tradition!
