Thanks to Strathaven Golf Club for allowing us to use the committee room yesterday to sort out the first lot of coats and jackets as part of the 2026 Wrap Up Lanarkshire campaign. We've been round most of the drop off locations and sorted out the coats and jackets into piles that were then bagged and distributed to local charities including Loaves & Fishes Foodbank in East Kilbride and the Lodging House Mission in Glasgow.

In total we have now distributed 300 coats and jackets based on the generosity of our community. There is still time to help as the campaign runs until November 18th 2026, and items can be dropped off at any of the locations mentioned in the attached poster.

Thanks in advance and thanks for your generosity to date in supporting this vital campaign.

Thank you to everyone who came along last night to the Rotary Club of Strathaven Quiz Night in Strathaven Hotel. Thanks also to our members who helped to make the evening run smoothly and also to Gillian and the fantastic team at the hotel for all their help and support.

31 teams and around 130 participants in what was an exciting night waiting to see who would be the winning team. In the end it was the ironically named 'In Last Place that came out the winners with 78 points out of 101. 'ACME' was in second place with 68 points and 'The Secret Seven (with 5 members!!) was third with 66 points.

All of the funds raised will go towards helping us fund the maintenance and consumables for Strathaven's defibrillator. As a matter of interest they have been used seven times in the last 14 months, showing how invaluable they are to our community.

Thanks again to everyone who came along and hope you all had a great evening.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to another excellent Empty Shelves means Empty Stomachs, supporting our local foodbanks.

The 2026 Wrap Up Lanarkshire campaign launches on October 1st. So its time to check out your wardrobes and cupboards for coats and jackets you no longer use and take them along to one of the drop off points mentioned on the attached poster.

We will collect and sort them prior to the end of the campaign and distribute them to local charities that support people in need. Having witnessed the reaction of people last year when they knew that they could take a warm jacket free of charge, this is a really worthwhile campaign.

We will be supporting a number of local charities including Loaves & Fishes Foodbank, Homestart and Refuweegee.

Just a quick reminder that the Empty Shelves Means Empty Stomachs campaign is still active until September 18th 2026. You can drop off non perishable food items at all of the locations mentioned in the poster.

Foodbanks are increasingly vital to people's lives, helping those in need, so please help if you can.

We are supporting Loaves & Fishes Foodbank and Strathaven Foodbank both of whom go out of their way to support the communities around Avondale.

Please help if you can.
