A lovely games afternoon at Darby & Joan this week, with cards, dominoes, plenty of tea and, of course, a good blether! ☕️🃏

We were sorry to miss a few familiar faces after the bus was unable to get through because of the fallen tree on Threestanes Road — we hope to see you next time.

Next week, we’re delighted to welcome John Walker, who’ll be taking us on a trip down memory lane with a talk about Glasgow’s dance halls. 💃🕺

We’d love to see you there!

What a brilliant afternoon at the Darby and Joan Club!

We were treated to a wonderful performance from Fusion, a group of 10 talented musicians. They had us singing along to classics like When I'm 64, Let It Be, and Bad Moon Rising, plus some Scottish favourites like Caledonia and Loch Lomond. There was toe tapping, chair dancing, and plenty of applause - a huge thank you to Fusion for such a joyful afternoon.

Just a quick reminder that we won't be meeting next week due to the bank holiday. We'll be back the following Monday with a games afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone then.

Such a lovely afternoon at the Avondale Community Wing with the Darby and Joan Club. We enjoyed a fun game of bingo, celebrated some prize winners, and shared plenty of tea, chat, and laughter. It was wonderful to spend time together and connect. Thank you to everyone who joined and made it such an enjoyable afternoon.

A lovely afternoon at the Strathaven Darby & Joan Club today, with more than 20 ladies joining us.

We were treated to a fascinating talk from Liz Allan about pioneering aviators Amy Johnson and Glasgow-born Jim Mollison. Amy Johnson famously became the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930 — an incredible achievement and an inspiring story to hear more about.

A warm welcome as well to our new members who joined us today. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon and look forward to seeing you again!

It was also my first week volunteering with the club, and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer start. Such a friendly afternoon and a lovely sense of community. ☕✈️

Well that's another year over for The Strathaven Darby and Joan Club. We had a wonderful Christmas party at the Strathaven Hotel and were looked after perfectly by Morgan and the rest of the team. Our entertainer Roland Russell put on a great show too. We hope to see everyone back in 2026 and any new members who'd like to join us xx
