🎨 Meet the Artists of the Brook: Clare Shilvock πŸ’š

Clare Shilvock of Warwickshire Willow is a willow artist creating contemporary sculptural and functional work from willow grown on her small family farm in Stratford-upon-Avon, just a stone's throw from Mary Arden's Farm. Inspired by the landscapes and seasons of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds, she transforms this versatile natural material into woven sculptures, baskets, garden structures and homeware, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.

β€œThe tactile willow, with its incredible survival instinct and ability to throw out new, fresh, green shoots from even the tiniest of cuttings, really struck a chord. I was hooked and totally fascinated by all things willow,” says Clare. Visitors to Brook Arts Hub will have the opportunity to explore her creations, learn more about the journey from living willow to finished piece, and to be inspired by beauty, sustainability and the enduring relevance of willow craft.

🎨 Meet the Artists of the Brook: Popi K πŸ’š

Popi Koutentaki, a UK-based artist from Crete, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work combines vibrant colour, expressive linework and symbolic abstraction. Working in oils, acrylics and encaustic painting - an ancient and rare technique using wax, resin and pigment, she creates richly textured works that invite curiosity and contemplation.

β€œI’m currently creating a new series of paintings titled "One is All, All is One", inspired by my hope to encourage greater compassion, acceptance of diversity, and a sense of shared belonging in our world. Through these pieces, I aim to express the idea that every individual is part of a greater whole - and that the whole is reflected in each of us,” Popi explains.

For Popi, not only art but life itself is meant for joy.
Come to the Brook Arts Hub to discover, reflect and connect.

🎨 Meet the Artists of the Brook: Alix Almond πŸ’š

Alix Almond is a Coventry-based printmaker whose contemporary linocut prints are inspired by animals, birds, nature and landscape. Predominantly self-taught, she works with single-colour, multi-block and reduction linocut techniques, creating detailed and expressive images of animals and birds, while drawing inspiration from nature and the landscape around her.

β€œI work from home, usually printing in my kitchen – and even with a spoon!” she says.

Since discovering printmaking in 2015, Alix has developed a distinctive style influenced by both traditional and modernist printmaking. Alongside her own artistic practice, she teaches linocut workshops across Coventry and Warwickshire, sharing her passion for printmaking with artists of all experience levels.
