Last month saw the start of our 'History On Our Doorstep Project'. The project allows our brilliant history group to identify the places in our locality of historical significance. We go to these places to explore, inquire and learn. First trip was a short walk to Melmount Chapel where we learned about the famous 'Urney Bell', we discovered how the bell was lost when it was buried in the graveyard to prevent it being smelted down for the war effort. Second trip was to Castlederg Castle, we explored the ruins and learned why the O'Neill Clan built the castle there originally and its different occupants throughout history. Third week, we travelled to Raphoe and the Beltany Stone Circle, we speculated to what this ancient structure was used for. Final trip of the month, was a trip to Castlefin and an exploration how the town has changed through history; from the O'Donnell castle, to the plantation town, to the railways and river was used. Stay tuned for next months pursuits!

Delighted to announce that the 'New Horizons Football team' has had a very successful 'Peace Games', hosted by Foyle Down Syndrome. We played and won 4 matches in the league stage qualifying for the final against 'the Hub'. It was a tightly contested match, we managed to come back from going one down to come out eventual 2-1 winners!!!! Special mention to our goal scorers on the day; Jack Monaghan, Jack Devine, Peter Clarke and Cory Dunn. Our defence was amazing throughout; Amy Chard, Jack Sills and Libby McFarland all gave solid performances. A very special mention to our our amazing Goalie Zack Barr; without his reflex saves in the final we would have not been able to claim the victory. Also, Adam Barry played an important role in motivating the team from the sidelines as assistant manager. Big thanks to Foyle Down Syndrome for inviting us along and running such an amazing event.
