Stonehaven - Fatherland Burns Club

Stonehaven - Fatherland Burns Club The Stonehaven (Fatherland) Burns Club is unique in that we are the only club in the world to have the privilege of having the word 'Fatherland' in our title.

We are very proud of this distinction.

African American poet and civil rights activist Langston Hughes was an admirer of Burns for his writings and pursuit of social justice. Our fraternal sister organisation Langston Hughes Cultural Society researched the location and placed a marker on the grave of his infant brother. Historically, the graves of African Americans were segregated and often unmarked. Their efforts, and ours, to celebrate their works and preserve historic sites, helps to ensure that future generations will be able to appreciate their priceless contributions to culture and justice.

If you look carefully, you might see a member of the Stonehaven Burns Club at the marker placement celebration. 😉

Our club centenary Burns Supper at Number 44 last night was a cracker. Over 60 guests enjoyed a celebration of the life and works of Rabbie Burns with a wonderful lineup of local and invited speakers who had us all in fits of laughter.

There were moving tributes to the great man through the recital of his poetry and songs who in his tragically short life, produced so much that has defined what it is to be Scottish and our pursuit of justice for the common man.

We’ll post more pictures here shortly along with the date of next year’s Burns Supper for your diary.

Meanwhile, enjoy young Callen Hamilton-Hall Addressing the Haggis.

Due to increasing costs, particularly in relation to the cost of food, in order to cover the costs of the event, we have set the price for this years event at £47.50 per ticket.

To facilitate an efficient service on the evening (and maximise time for our wonderful entertainment) we are asking guests to pre-select their menu choices, choosing starter, main course and desert.

See menu below, also presented when you book on-line.

We encourage guests to use the online ticketing platform as it is a simple way to purchase tickets and select your choices for the evening. Whilst there is an additional online booking fee for using this method, we have kept the booking fee to a minimum and have absorbed part of the cost but there will be a booking fee of £2.50 per ticket when using the online platform.
