Just reflecting on how proud we all are of our amazing young people, and our dedicated leaders (all volunteers)
To win 2 regional awards, one for each show we did, is amazing and mad at the same time.
Made even more amazing as there are no entry auditions to get into Crash Bang Wallop (the way i believe it should be for Youth Theatre). Children and young people develop at different rates, and a large chunk of our cast wouldn't have been 'accepted' into a group running entry auditions. I had a lovely chat with NODA North - Amateur Theatre in your region nation president about this before yesterday's awards.
Coupled with that is that fact that despite our recent success, we are still one 'poor selling show' away from going under!
Joseph Arnott - Actor touch on this brilliantly in one of his nominations for Billingham Performers Youth Theatre . Amateur theatre is massively important for young and old, yet it's a real financial struggle to stay afloat for a lot of groups.
Youth Theatre is so much more than training young stage performers. It's about building confidence, learning to work as part of a team, and discovering yourself.
One of our winning shows was all about celebrating uniqueness, discovering yourself and trusting your own individually!
