We're loving the Mid-Week season so far, as you can see the team support has been amazing!

More details about the three races so far will follow later. In the meantime, thank you to all involved and the hosts. A big well done to all the runners, and thank you to the volunteers and photographers.

Looking forward to race 4 on July 2nd.

Stevenage Parkrun had a Striders Headliner event recently, and despite the very wet weather, it was an enormous success.

With 40 striders earning a volunteer credit, plus others who worked behind the scenes and throughout the event, we were able to show the local community what we do. We also had the opportunity to show everyone the fantastic Menzies Stevenage 5k & 10k medals.

Well done and thank you to all who made it such a great event. There was some great feedback for the brilliant pacers!

We had 56 club members run at Stevenage for this event too, with PBs from Charlotte Moye (first lady), Jess Pickering, Anne Garcia, Hannah Warman, Rhiannon Evans, Gemma Mullins, Callum Allcock-Green and Dympna Wilson, plus one first timer, Amy Vince, smashing her first ever parkrun.

We're looking forward to doing it again!

Thank you to Gary Sherin for the majority of our photos.

Grafman middle distance triathlon

Ben Ward 6.02.14 A middle distance triathlon at Grafham Water on what was a very windy and hot day.
I won't bore you with the swim and bike details, but the water was perhaps the closest to a sea swim one can have inland at a reservoir! Choppy is an understatement!
I was pleased to have a sub-2-hour half marathon at 1:59:47!

Sarah Kinsella 7:28.31 Tough triathlon in the wind. Had to dig deep on the mental resilience for this one. Delighted to have completed it. The joy shows on my face at the finish line! Lovely to have fellow Striders on the course too.

Martin Scales 6.02.09 1.9k Swim 1:05:01
90k Bike 3:03:35
21.1k Run 1:49:50
Really appreciated the support of those taking on this event with me today.

Fiona Westcough 5.33.59 PB Took on the Grafman Middle Distance Triathlon alongside Martin, Ben, Sarah & Steve as a final prep race for Frankfurt Ironman at the end of the month.
Managed to get a 28-minute overall distance PB and a strong half marathon (1:56:30) despite windy conditions!

Endure 24

Sarah Goodyear and Jen Graham-Flint took on Endure24 Reading as the Spirit of the Muntjac, aiming to complete as many laps of the 5-mile trail course as possible within 24 hours.

The route was extremely challenging, particularly due to the constant rain (plus gale-force winds) all through Friday night and Saturday, making it very muddy and slippery.

It wasn't the weekend we had hoped for distance-wise, but we are still very proud of ourselves for completing 4 strong laps each.

Sarah beat her course best from 2024 by 14 minutes, which is a great achievement. Muntjacs can do tough things!

Hitchin Hard Half

Peter Moye 1.30.45. A really great event, with a nice hilly course that was only partly responsible for the massively negative split!

Two Striders headed out for the Newmarket Half Marathon, with Russell Edwards coming in at 2:37:51 and Ian McClements at 2:38:00. Russell said
"Half Marathon No.67 and there were some ugly hills to get up and over, but I had the best company Ian McClements. I really enjoyed that, not too warm, cool breeze and joined by the lovely Dorota McClements for the last few Kms”

While Ian commented “I enjoyed the inaugural Newmarket Half Marathon, home race so was prepared for the hills, but with Russell for company we breezed through under sunny skies and good local support on the route”
