On Sunday 21st June, we had the joy of welcoming the wonderful Thames path relay walkers in Lammas Park who were ferried by The Little Green Boat Company to the park's shores, after walking from Windsor to Staines as part of the 30th anniversary of the Thames Path National Trail and Drinkable Rivers, overseen by our sculpture Howie the Heron, made from the 100th shopping trolley pulled out of the water by the Waterway Pickers Staines.
With the support from Stanwell Food bank , Cllr Sean Beatty, Cllr Michelle Arnold and Ashford Youth Club we were able to provide a free buffet to help recharge the walkers' batteries.
We then went on a journey of music, poetry, breath work, qi gong, movement and live painting together. We listened, connected with the water, ourselves and one another in the space.
One of the walkers commented: "What a wonderful group you are! [... ] It was such a lovely welcome. Once Iโd settled into it and let go a bit I was in the water.. the sounds and movements. Thank you so much."
