Christine Miller has recently retired from the Students’ Association after nearly three decades of exceptional service.

Christine joined the Union in 1996 as an Assistant in the General Office, having previously worked at the University. She worked her way up to leading the department, serving as Personal Assistant to the General Manager and now CEO, and taking on countless additional roles that helped shape the organisation.

Her work as Clerk to the Board and its sub-committees ensured the smooth running of the Association’s governance processes and she has worked closely with countless Trustees, officers, students, and staff alike, always finding time to help.

The Union won’t be the same without her, and we are so grateful for everything she has contributed.

We wish her the very best as she begins this well‑deserved next chapter. 🩷

Thank you to those of you who gave feedback during the Main Bar Survey at the end of last year — your input was really valuable.

We’ve now analysed an amazing 1,602 responses, and the message from students was clear: affordability, atmosphere, community and safety matter most. We also hear the concerns around franchising, jobs and how the space is used.
Main Bar hasn’t been developed in over a decade, and our current financial position simply isn’t sustainable, but the exciting thing is that every step we now take will be to protect and strengthen the student experience, from societies and events to representation, belonging, and job security.
