We are recruiting a Student Advice Coordinator to join our Student Engagement team!
This role is focused on providing independent, high-quality advice, guidance and advocacy to students facing challenges related to academic appeals, disciplinary matters, fitness to practise cases, accommodation issues and student complaints. The postholder acts as a trusted source of support, helping students understand their rights, navigate university processes and, where appropriate, represent them at meetings and hearings to ensure they receive fair treatment.
Alongside direct casework, the role is responsible for developing and improving the Students’ Association’s Advocacy and Advice Service. This includes maintaining accurate case records, analysing data and service trends, supervising interns involved in case triage, and using evidence from student experiences to inform campaigns, strategic planning and service improvements. The postholder also helps deliver advice-related events and ensures the organisation remains informed about relevant university policies and developments in higher education.
The role requires strong collaboration across the Students’ Association, the University and wider student support services. Working closely with students, elected officers and key stakeholders, the postholder helps amplify the student voice, supports student engagement initiatives and contributes to major Association activities such as Freshers’ Week, Elections and training programmes. Overall, the position combines student advocacy, service development and stakeholder engagement to enhance the student experience at the University of St Andrews.
Deadline to apply is 14th August at 5pm.
