Reach Learning Disability is a registered charity that supports people with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire. We work with over 250 people with learning disabilities (our clients) weekly to enable each individual to lead a happier and healthier life in their own community. We have five centres – Reach Southwell, Reach Newark, Reach Mansfield, and our horticultural centres Flower Pod South

well and Flower Pod Newark. Our centres offer courses, activities, projects and socials, aiming to enable our clients to learn new skills, make friends and live well. We also provide one-to-one care support through Reach Learning Disability Care CIC.

From relay races in the style of an animal to balance challenges, bean bag tosses and our "cross the finish line with style" challenge, there was something for everyone to have a go at.

🏰 Did you know? Nottinghamshire Day is celebrated each year on 25 August and commemorates the events of 1642 when King Charles I raised the Royal Standard in Nottingham, marking the beginning of the English Civil War.

Our local area played an important role in that history. Newark was a major Royalist stronghold during the Civil War, while Southwell was closely linked to key events towards the end of the conflict.

Today, we're celebrating the county we are proud to call home and the communities around our five centres: Reach Newark, Flower Pod Newark, Reach Southwell, Flower Pod Southwell and Reach Mansfield.

⛳🎨 We've been inspired by the wonderful mini golf pieces kindly donated by a local community group. They have been a fantastic addition to Flower Pod Southwell, encouraging people to spend more time having fun outdoors, developing motor skills and enjoy some extra walking between the holes.

To create our own 9-hole golf course across the site, clients have been designing and making colourful flags from scratch. They have used lino printing techniques to create the numbers and decorative designs, resulting in unique pieces full of creativity and personality.

We're proud that this project combines practical skills, creativity and teamwork, while helping to create something that everyone can enjoy. Once our new course is complete, the donated golf pieces will be passed on to another Reach centre so they can continue to be enjoyed and make a positive difference for more people across Reach.

📸 Happy National Photography Day!

Today we're celebrating the power of photography to capture everyday moments, achievements and friendships across Reach.

These fantastic photos, taken by Nicola Auckland, offer a glimpse into the day-to-day activities taking place in our centres. From learning new skills to spending time with friends, they showcase the vibrant communities that people with learning disabilities help create every day.

We're also pleased to share a photo taken by Charlotte, who has been developing her photography skills through Reach activities. Learning how to use a camera encourages creativity, builds confidence and supports important skills such as responsibility and attention to detail.
