We've had a few people ask what our final film of the season is about, so here's a quick explanation.
IS THIS THING ON? follows Alex, a man rebuilding his life after the breakdown of his marriage who unexpectedly discovers a talent for stand-up comedy. Loosely inspired by John Bishop's own journey into comedy, it's a warm, funny and uplifting story about family, friendship and second chances.
We should also be honest, ticket sales for this film are much lower than usual and, unless numbers improve over the next few days, there is a real possibility that we may have to cancel the screening.
The Village Cinema is run entirely by volunteers, but films are not free to show. Each screening costs us close to £200 in total, so we need around 40 people in the audience just to break even.
