SITTINGBOURNE AND SHEPPEY Freegle Group Guidelines Updated May 19th 2013 Your moderating team is there to help: send them an email if you would like help with anything or if you get stuck. On Facebook and Freegle Direct click on the link and send them a mail. Messages you post on our group are received by your fellow group members via individual emails or posted on Facebook or Freegle Direct, depending on what you and they have agreed with the group. Interested members reply to your message individually and you arrange a mutually convenient time with your fellow member to call round and pick the item up. How easy is that! To help you get the best out of this group please read the pointers below. MANNERS Good Manners go a long way, Please remember your Please and Thank-you's “Please do” stuff: We ASK that new members look around their homes, in the loft and in their sheds for something they could offer as their first post. Existing members do not like to see new members posting a wanted as soon as their membership is approved!! After all this group IS about saving the Landfills and NOT about getting as much as you can for free. Please keep your message subject/title lines simple. All initial messages will be either an Offer or a Wanted, then say what your item is (e.g clock, bike etc.), and end with your location. Other group members want to know where you are before they give you something for free or ask for something. Remember: OFFER or WANTED : Item (Location) If you receive what you are askinf for please post Received, or if you are after an Item please post wanted. This will give you a general Idea. OFFER: Thingy (Your general location) TAKEN: Thingy (Your general location) Please describe your items honestly in the main body of your message. Please be considerate – turn up to collect when you say you will or call before the agreed time to re-arrange if you have to change your plans. N.B Wanted posts: We Allow wanted posts BUT: Please think carefully before posting WANTED'S. Remember this group is for items that were going to be binned, and not extravagant things like diamond rings! In the past we have always restricted members to posting one item per post and only three wanted posts allowed per month, However we are considering changing this to allowing members to post wanteds in a list on WEDNESDAYS ONLY. Please look out for any changes in the group rules.. there will be Admins sent out from time to time. We ask all members to take the time to read them. Please think carefully before giving out personal information like your phone number or address on the group list. Your post goes to every member, If you do feel the need to give out a phone number because of limited internet please use a Mobile number so should you need to you can block any problem callers. Are you thinking of selling things obtained on the group? Our main objective is to keep things out of landfill. If you’re planning to sell items you get on the group then that is fine as long as you are honest about it and mention in your emails and messages that you are planning to sell the items on. If you are discovered breaking this rule then you may be banned. Be polite in your messages to other group members. If something happens you object to, please email your group moderators. Don’t forget that if you don’t tell your group moderators that something is going wrong, then they’ll find it hard to help. Alcohol May be offered to the group but No wanted posts please........ Please don’t ask to borrow or swap items. Your group has an associated cafe (chat) group, you may ask on there. KEEP IT FREE, LEGAL & APPROPRIATE FOR ALL AGES. Respect restrictions this group has on to***co, fi****ms or drugs, legal or otherwise. under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should any wanted or offered post be sent to the group. To***co posts May be offered on the Cafe but no wanted posts will be allowed. We ask that you keep politics, religion, rudeness or personal attacks on other members out of your Freegle messages. If you have a problem with another member, contact your moderators. Please do not send spam; “referral links”, “invitations to join” and so on are all viewed as spam. Respect the groups and your fellow members’ email addresses, they are not there as a useful reference. If you spam This Freegle group you risk being banned. If you have been hacked please change your password as soon as possible and/ or contact your email provider. Cross-posting is offering or requesting an item on more than one group at once. While we allow it please remember that other groups may not.. Some groups may ask you not to cross-post. If you are a member of more than one group, start with one group first (usually the one where you live). Post on there first. If you don’t get any responses after a few days then try again on a neighbouring Freegle group. Please do not offer or request animals on this group. The cafe will allow posts for re-homing but no wanted posts or animals put to stud. DECIDING WHO GETS AN ITEM. You don't have to choose the first recipient. Try to wait a little while to allow people to reply who aren't on line all the time. At the end of the day, it's up to you who and how you choose. One thing we ask you to consider is offer the item to the person you think is the most needy or who remembers to use their manners and ask nicly and say please. Lastly – you might find you are getting far more messages than you anticipated when joining. Don’t panic, you can change how often you get messages – please don’t leave your Freegle group because of it.
