What we buy and the way we live has a direct impact on human & animal welfare. With information and wide access to cruelty free products, we all have the ability to make informed choices; choices which will improve health, prevent cruelty and protect the environment.

❤️World Vegan Day ❤️
Percy doesn't know it's World Vegan Day.
He doesn't know people are talking about animals just like him.
He just knows that when it's time for his extra meal, someone will be there to help him find it.
Being blind means Percy sometimes needs a little extra help and It's amazing how quickly those little things become second nature when you know someone well.
In the end, it's often the smallest acts of care that mean the most to the one receiving them.

A gentle reminder this World Vegan Day that every animal experiences the world in their own way, and their life matters every bit as much to them as ours does to us.❤️💜

A little treat and a lovely friendship 💚
Animal carer Robyn is sharing a quiet moment with our lovely Holly, giving her tiny pieces of bread after her meal of soaked mix. Holly only has a few teeth, so everything comes in small mouthfuls.
Robyn has built such a lovely, trusting friendship with Holly, who lives with Percy, Tammy and Rocky. They all need a little extra support in their older years, and being able to give them that care is especially precious when we think back to where Holly’s life began.
Ten years ago, Holly was just four months old when our founder, Mary, begged a neighbouring farmer not to send all his lambs away for the Christmas plate. Amazingly, he agreed to let five come to the sanctuary. Holly arrived with her friends Molly, Polly, Dolly and Bump, with their whole lives ahead of them.
Now, a decade later, here she is, enjoying her little treats with someone she knows and trusts. It’s a simple moment, but behind it are ten years of life she so nearly never had.
This is why we share these glimpses of sanctuary life. We hope that getting to know Holly, and seeing the friendship she shares with Robyn, helps others see how much every animal's life matters. 🐑❤️

The gentlest little mealtime with Hope, Woody, Wilf and Derek 🐷❤️
No barging, no grunting at each other, no stealing someone else’s mouthful. I don’t think we’ve ever known such a gentle group. These four boys have become such close friends.🥰
And little Wilf isn’t so little anymore! Once the smallest, he’s now bigger than Woody and looks set to catch up with Derek soon. Must be all those carrots and pumpkin! 🥕🎃💚

The rain and wind gave us a break yesterday, and our gorgeous boys were certainly happy about it!
A lovely burst of excitement as they enjoyed a bit of sunshine and run around, taking a special interest in the muck heap🥰❤️

Can anyone with a chainsaw help us today! This has come down on top of our fox proof fencing in hen haven, meaning the foxes will be able to get in if we dont get it repaired asap.

There's only one place to be on a wet and windy day if you're a donkey, tucked up in your dry shelter with a pile of barley straw to munch on! 🫏❤️
And that's exactly where we find Pedro, happily rummaging through his straw. 🥰
Our six lovely donkeys have all been rescued from different circumstances, including neglect, abandonment and the threat of destruction. When you know what some of them have been through, there's something especially lovely about watching them happy, safe and enjoying the simplest little pleasures.
Donkeys aren't native to this country. They evolved in much warmer, drier climates, and unlike horses, their coats aren't naturally waterproof. That's why having somewhere dry and sheltered from our wet weather is so important.
They're also designed to eat a high-fibre, low-sugar and low-starch diet, so barley straw is a wonderful way to keep them happily nibbling without too many calories.
I love watching their soft little muzzles twitching as they pick out their favourite little bits! 🥰
We make sure they all have their own piles, although George and Mabel always prefer to share! ❤️
It's hard to imagine our sanctuary family without Mabel and the boys. Six wonderful characters, each so different, and all with a home for life.
Thank you for helping us give them the love, care and security they deserve.🧡🙏
