‼️Sign and spread this far and wide! Make water companies statuary consultees in all housing development planning applications‼️Let's see how quickly we can get the 10,000 to get a government response, 100,000 to get it debated in Parliament!

We call on the UK Government to make water companies statutory consultees in all housing development planning applications. This would ensure that no development can proceed unless the relevant water company confirms that adequate water supply, wastewater, and drainage infrastructure is in place.

How to stop Government harming nature (but still solve the housing crisis)

Councillors' Toolkit

We have launched a toolkit for councillors, as so many of them are new following the local elections. We are asking you to send the toolkit to every councillor you know - and ideally, to others who you do not know! Leader, Chair of Local Plan Committee, Chair of Planning Committee - they could all read it.

Here's the suggested covering email. The link to report is embedded within it:

Dear Councillor

I would like to ask you to read a report by the Community Planning Alliance called "How to stop Government harming nature (but still solve the housing crisis):
https://communityplanningalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/260605_CPA-Councillor-Briefing-Document_Jun26.pdf

Voters want politicians to do more for green spaces, countryside and nature, and we are worried about food security.

Over 220 groups took part in a national day of action in April.

We know that you are under pressure to deliver your housing targets. But did you know that a number of councils are starting to push back and say no to impossible targets? And did you know that there are things you can do to help ensure that development is sustainable.

They are all set out in the report above.

I would be delighted to discuss it with you and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Kind regards

Little owl nest. Thanks for sending these pictures in. We understand the nest has been there for years apparently and is down Shoulderway Lane. They are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Their numbers are known to be declining.

SOS attended the Stratford District Council meeting on Wednesday to put in our objections to the housing developments being proposed as part of the South Warwickshire Local Plan for Shipston. We were the only group being represented.
There are a series of meetings going on over the next week to get the next stage of the plan known as Regulation 19 in its final draft. There will then be consultation over the summer, before it is finalised and sent to the Government for approval by the end of December.

The Herald is covering the headlines and videos of the meetings can be seen on YouTube. We will keep you informed of any key developments.

There's lots of news! It's about the SWLP being in final stages of development at SDC before it goes to Secretary of State to be signed off in 2028. It is then that it becomes law.
On Wednesday SOS will be at the SDC meeting which is the last chance to influence the plan and argue our case for having Shipston removed from the SWLP.
There is a lack of clarity about what influence IF ANY the SWLP has over any of the existing planning applications or proposed developments such as Fell Mill.
We will report back once our team has sound information about all this, and once the draft SWLP has been signed off at SDC at the beginning of June.

Regulation 19 of SWLP is in final draft and information is available at link below.

Nothing to comment on so at this stage this is for information only.

We will post comment and explanations of what all this is pointing to for Shipston next week.

None of this refers to current developers planning applications or proposals, it is just about forward planning going into 2027/8 when the SWLP becomes law.
