Darnall Allotment Project A community growing project in Darnall aimed at improving health/well-being, promoting community involvement and social inclusion in the area.

Entrance via Staniforth Road Situated at Ouse Road allotments, off Staniforth Road towards Attercliffe , Darnall Allotment Project holds regular food growing sessions on the site with an emphasis on social activity whilst improving health and well-being. What it can provide:
-Physical exercise and social contact.
-Help develop confidence and keep fit.
-Contributing to a meaningful and positive activity.
-Learning the basics of growing food.
-We promote eating fresh produce on-site and encourage people to take plants and seeds to try growing at home. We have a site we are using and have just been given an extension to the plot and currently clearing it of small trees and debris to create a new space to grow and meet. Our food growing session is every Friday 10-1pm, and we encourage home growing too. During summer months we also offer Art on the Allotment and On Our Plot for anyone living with dementia and their careers, Tuesdays 1-3pm. Booking is essential for these sessions

We had a great time despite the rain! Thanks to all who braved the weather to join in, and especially a big thanks to Julie, Saada, Glenys and Lyndsey who helped cut apples, clean up and more.

And just for the record, there was a terrible rumour that we didn't have any "proper" tea 😳 I would like to confirm that we Always have tea (Yorkshire) and there has never been a time of running out of tea! 🍵☕🍵

A lovely AGM. Thanks everyone for coming! Thank you Gina for making our soup today. Thank you Sarah for organising the people’s patch and that happens.

We would like to thank AVA for all her hard work as secretary As she steps down.
We would like to thank Jo as she steps down as treasurer but remains on the committee.

We are open Fridays 10-1pm all welcome.

Last 12 months.

During this year the plot has really become established. It was named The People’s Patch. We got a fence, tool shed, polytunnel, composting toilet, shelter, water supply, storage shed, hard surface path and a notice board. The apple trees from Infield Lane were grafted and 6 have been planted, along with a plum tree and other fruit bushes.

Events

•10 week dimentia group - -on the plot.
• Apple juicing – 20 attendees
• Christmas wreath making – 16 attendees
• Work day with volunteer staff from Cadent to construct polytunnel
• Visit and work session from 10 children from High Hazels Academy
• Visit and work session from 11 Beavers (session run by Jo-Anne)
