SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR 2026 🏆

We’ve kept this quiet… so hopefully this might come as a nice surprise to many of you this morning!

Last night at the Move More Awards 2026, Steel City Sports CIC was named Sports Team of the Year, out of a huge 146 nominations.

We hadn’t shared anything about being nominated beforehand, as we genuinely weren’t expecting anything, we were just so pleased to be invited! To be recognised in this way, amongst so many incredible organisations across Sheffield doing amazing work in sport and activity, is something we are hugely proud of.

The evening itself was such a fantastic experience. It was so special to be surrounded by people and organisations who are all working towards making sport and activity more inclusive, accessible and impactful across our city. It really reflected everything we built Steel City for, and reminded us why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine and Yorkshire Sport for organising such a brilliant event, and to the judging panel for valuing and recognising our passion for accessible, community sport.

This award represents so much more than a sports team…it’s for:

🔗Our athletes, who show up, work hard, learn, grow and support each other every week
🔗 Our coaches, who lead with passion, care and professionalism
🔗 Our families, who trust us and support their athlete’s journey
🔗 Our wider community, who continue to back and believe in what we do

WE ARE ALL STEEL CITY!

We are incredibly grateful to be part of Sheffield’s sports community and to be recognised alongside so many inspirational organisations and people.

We are so incredibly grateful to one of our amazing parents, Leanne, who has raised £600 for Steel City Sports CIC through her marathon journey.

This will go directly towards improving our training space and equipment for all of our athletes, something that will have a real impact across the whole programme.

Thank you for choosing to give back to our community in such a meaningful way. We are so proud to have you as part of Team Steel City 🏃‍♀️💙
