A minutes silence in Memory of the one and Only Roger Harvey. 50+ of voluntary service to the club. 💙 Shanklin Football Club

First half

We started slowly but after the first 10 minutes the boys woke up and started competing. Noah pulled off a couple of good saves, while Blake, Bodhi and Bear were solid at the back, battling for every ball and limiting Vectis’ chances. We went in at half-time 0-0.

Second half

The boys started the second half much better. Jack and Stan in the middle were absolute engines, putting in a huge shift, and Noah produced another couple of fantastic saves.

Unfortunately, we were beaten by a swaying cross to make it 1-0. To their credit, the boys never let their heads drop. We changed shape to try and chase the game but unfortunately conceded two more.

The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. This was nowhere near a 3-0 game, and every single player should be proud of the effort they put in today. They worked incredibly hard against a strong Vectis side.

🏆 Man of the Match – Noah 💙

Outstanding from the first whistle! Multiple fantastic saves, claiming corners, sweeping up when needed and some impressive goal kicks.

Without doubt the best game we’ve seen Noah play. Absolutely deserved recognition. Well done, mate! 👏💙

Shanklin U12s 12–0 Sandown & Lake FC

The boys got a game today in windy conditions and started brightly, creating plenty of chances but struggling to find the target, or being denied by some great saves from the Sandown keeper. We went into half-time with a 4–0 lead.

Second Half

After a good half-time team talk, the boys got back to playing their quick, passing football and started finding the target, scoring some fantastic, well-worked goals to finish the game with an impressive 12–0 victory.

Credit to Sandown & Lake for battling right until the final whistle, and a big shout-out to the young referee, who was superb throughout the game. 👏

🏆 Man of the Match – Bear

Bear was outstanding all round today! He defended brilliantly and, when moved out of defence, worked just as hard in his new position. A fantastic team performance and a well-deserved Man of the Match! 🔵🔴⚽

💙 Shanklin U12s 2–1 East Cowes Vics

The boys’ first league game of the season saw us come up against a well-organised East Cowes Vics side.

We started slowly but gradually built into the game and created some really good chances. We probably should have been ahead at the break, but just couldn’t find the target. HT: 0–0.

The second half started in much the same way, but the boys soon woke up. Great work down the wing from William, who played the ball to Wills, with Will setting Jack up perfectly to put us 1–0 ahead.

After a few more missed chances and a fantastic goal-line clearance from Blake, we eventually found our second. William worked his magic again, setting Stan up, who showed just how well he can strike a ball to make it 2–0.

With five minutes to go, East Cowes Vics got themselves on the scoresheet, making for a nervy finish. The boys defended brilliantly to see the game out.

🏆 Man of the Match – Blake
A thoroughly deserved award for his tireless work rate up and down the pitch, battling for every ball and never giving up. His fantastic goal-line clearance was a huge moment in the game, and his determination in every battle was brilliant to watch. 💙👏

A great effort from everyone on the pitch today. It was a really good game to watch, and we’re looking forward to many more league games! 💙⚽️

Onto the final the boys put in a strong performance dominating the game from the first whistle winning the game 2-0 💙🏆

We couldn’t be any prouder of the boys early start to the day and in the sun all day they gave 110% all day and took the trophy home 💙🏆
