In the last few weeks, whilst the children have been on holiday ( more on that to come) , the team have been hard at work at the school . First with an amazing contribution by an NGO a new bore hole and tank have been installed which also allows access to deeper water which is essential in the dry season . In addition work is now being undertaken to run water to all of the toilets , kitchen and garden .

Following the wonderful tiling transformation of the nursery classrooms we have been able allocate funds to the Momodou building one to get the classrooms and verandah . Which even involved some nighttime torchlight work to get it done before school restarted. Eyes now set on the biggest building Lisa & Derick 2 .

Finally new school gates were needed which has involved new upgraded pillars to support them this will also include raising the boundary wall by 2 courses of blocks , before a repaint .

Phew!!! Still more planned though

You may recall during our trip to the school the Trustees gave presents of toothbrushes, toothpaste etc to all the nursery children. Here they are doing their daily routine.

Also we gifted some Gambian musical instruments to the school in memory of one of dear supporters, Brian, some of the children showed off their drumming skills to their fellow students . Arrangements are being made to give lessons outside of school hours so you never know we may have a band by the time we next visit is December !!

Karl had the honour of showing his parents around the school last week and checked up on the latest work being carried out . In addition they saw for the first time a new bore hole which has been provided by another charity keen to support the school . This too will have a tank & pump like out existing one but benefits from a deeper water table which will help in the drier months . There are also trenches being dug to get water supplied to the toilets , kitchen and school garden. What an amazing gift for the school and Trust

Work went wonderfully well at the nursery and all the tiling of the nursery floors is now complete and on a recent visit by the trustees it was clear what a fantastic job had been done and the difference it has made . Attention is now turning to how we can get the lower basic classes done as you will see in the photo they are now in poor repair . Quotes are being asked for to get the first three done and the verandah in the Mo Jammeh building . New gates and gate posts are also being installed to ensure the grounds are secure . In addition after a recent boundary fence of a neighbouring farm was removed a temporary fence has rapidly had to be put up which was achieved by the generosity of trustees Karl & Darren and the hard work of the villagers and children , again to ensure the security of the school grounds and keeping livestock out

What a busy week at the Nursery . Earlier this week Fatou our assistant project manager delivered new shoes to every child in the nursery thanks to the amazing shoe fund set up by two amazing sponsors . Next we got photos to show the children playing and imagining LEGO creations donated by Cinergi and associates when they visited a few months ago. And finally today the tiling started for the classrooms and we are told it should be completed by Sunday . There is a hope we will also in time tile all the classrooms in the lower basic . But through an amazing fundraising event organised by one of our sponsors with Chichester Harbour Rotary has raised enough to tile all three classrooms of the Nursery . This will give a long lasting , safe and easy to clean environment for the children . Phew what a week
