Create & Thrive - Love Languages - Giving & Receiving Love - This Thursday

This week at Create & Thrive we'll be continuing to explore the theme of love and connection ❤️

In the last session, we reflected on the many different ways love shows up in our lives through relationships, community, self-compassion and belonging. We also began creating our "Orange of Love" projects, exploring the people, places and experiences that help us feel connected and supported.

This week, we'll be building on that theme by exploring the idea of Love Languages – the different ways people give, receive and experience love and care 💛

You do not need to have attended last week to join us.

For those who started an Orange of Love project, there will be an opportunity to continue and complete it, and new participants are very welcome to join in with this and the other activities.

We'll be:

❤️ Exploring the Five Love Languages

🧘 Taking part in a guided compassion meditation

🍊 Continuing our Orange of Love creative project

🪡 Creating felt heart keyrings

🎨 Enjoying a 'Grateful Heart' colouring activity and creative reflection

💭 Reflecting on connection, kindness and the ways we show care for ourselves and others

Create & Thrive is designed as a gentle, creative wellbeing space where people can slow down, reflect and connect with themselves and others.

We aim to create a calm, creative and reflective space where everyone can relax, connect and focus on their wellbeing.

Parents and carers are welcome to attend with their children and remain responsible for their supervision throughout the session. Some activities involve quiet reflection and creativity, so we ask that all participants help us preserve the peaceful environment for others.

As always, all materials are provided—just bring yourself.

Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC

Are you passionate about walking alongside children and young people at a time when being heard truly matters?

At Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC, our vision is to help children, young people and families live life to the full through accessible, compassionate counselling and wellbeing support. As we grow our school-based provision within a secondary school in Derby, we are seeking a Placement Student School Counsellor to join our supportive, relational and values-led team.

This is more than a placement opportunity – it is a chance to develop your skills, deepen your practice and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people within a supportive and reflective environment.

The Role
Placement Student School Counsellor

We are offering a placement opportunity for counsellors in training who are passionate about supporting children and young people.
Placement students will:
- Deliver one-to-one counselling within a supported secondary school environment in Derby.
- Work with children and young people presenting with a range of emotional, relational and wellbeing needs.
- Gain valuable experience working specifically with children and young people.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records and contribute to service monitoring requirements.
- Receive regular support, guidance and opportunities for reflective practice.
- Work within Revive's policies, safeguarding procedures, values and professional standards.

About You
You must be enrolled on a counselling course that:
- Includes specific training for working with children and young people; and
- Allows placement hours to be gained through CYP client work.
You will also:
- Work in line with the BACP Children and Young People Competence Framework, ACC and Revives ethical standards and your training provider's requirements.
- Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice.
- Demonstrate emotional maturity, self-awareness and a commitment to ethical practice.
- Be passionate about supporting young people within an educational setting.
- Be willing to work in alignment with Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC's Christian ethos, vision and values.

What We Offer
- A warm, relational and supportive team environment.
- Group peer supervision.
- Access to CPD and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Valuable experience of counselling children and young people within a school setting.
- The opportunity to contribute to a values-driven, faith-informed service.

Christian Ethos and Genuine Occupational Requirement
Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC is a Christian organisation whose ethos and values underpin the delivery of our services. Due to the nature of this role and the requirement to work in alignment with and actively support this ethos, there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian for this role, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

We welcome applications from practising Christians who can contribute to the faith-informed culture and values of the organisation. However, applications will also be considered from individuals who, whilst not identifying as Christian, can demonstrate a genuine commitment to working in accordance with Revive's Christian ethos, values and ways of working, and who are able to support the organisation's mission and objectives.

All applicants must be committed to delivering services in a manner that reflects Revive's values and to working respectfully and inclusively with people of all faiths and none.

Safeguarding
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding requirements in line with working with children and young people.
Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and placement students to share this commitment.

We all face heavy seasons, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed by life’s demands. But sometimes, it can be hard to tell the difference between standard, everyday stress and clinical depression.
Understanding where you are at is the first step toward getting the right support. Here is a gentle guide to help you identify the differences:
🌱 EVERYDAY STRESS
• It’s situational: It is usually triggered by a specific event or pressure (a busy season at work, exams, financial strain, or family juggling).
• It comes and goes: When the stressor is resolved or you get a chance to rest, your mood and energy levels generally bounce back.
• You still find moments of joy: Even when stressed, you can usually still enjoy a good laugh, a favourite meal, or a hobby.
⚓ DEPRESSION
• It’s persistent: It lasts for at least two weeks or more, and often doesn't have an obvious "trigger"—it can feel like a heavy cloud regardless of your external circumstances.
• It impacts your capacity for joy: A core feature is anhedonia (the loss of interest or pleasure in things you normally love doing).
• It affects the body and mind deeply: It often brings constant fatigue, changes in sleep or appetite, feelings of worthlessness, or an empty, numb sensation that rest alone doesn't fix.
✨ The Biggest Difference? Response to Rest. While a relaxing weekend or a break from a project can significantly relieve stress, depression doesn't lift just because you take a day off.
Struggling doesn't mean you lack faith, and it doesn't mean you are failing. It just means you are human, navigating a complex world.
If you or a loved one are finding it hard to lift the cloud, you don't have to do it alone. We offer safe, confidential, and affordable individual counselling for children, young people, and adults.
Let’s talk. Click the link in our bio to learn more about our affordable services or to book an initial assessment. 🤍

Yesterday we held our very first Create & Thrive group at the Tin Hat Centre, and what a fantastic start it was! 💛

Together we explored the theme of love through creativity, reflection and art journalling. While love is often associated with romance, our session invited participants to think more broadly about the many ways love is present in our lives – through family, friendships, faith, community, compassion, kindness, passions, pets and the relationship we have with ourselves.

We reflected on how we are all created for connection and belonging, and explored the powerful impact that loving relationships can have on our wellbeing. Through guided reflection, creative activities and a compassion focused meditation, participants were encouraged to consider what helps them feel valued, cared for and connected.

There was a wonderful atmosphere of warmth, openness and creativity throughout the session, and it was a joy to see everyone engaging with the activities and sharing their insights.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our first Create & Thrive group such a success. We are already looking forward to the next session on Thursday 18th June 2026 and continuing this journey of creativity, wellbeing and connection together.
