Community Rallies Around Beloved Teacher Sue in Fight Against Cancer

A heartfelt appeal has been launched to help raise life-saving funds for a much-loved local primary school teacher and mother-of-three as she faces an agonising battle against pancreatic cancer.

At just 48 years old, Sue, from the village of Scotter, is fighting for her future after devastating news revealed her cancer has continued to progress despite months of gruelling chemotherapy treatment.

Described by family and friends as โ€œthe life of any roomโ€, Sue has become known throughout the community for her infectious humour, fierce independence, and unwavering kindness. Whether inside the classroom or among friends, her sharp wit and laughter have lifted countless people around her โ€” even during the darkest moments of her illness.
Now, those closest to her are asking the community to come together and help give Sue a fighting chance.

Sue, a devoted single mother to three children, has already endured unimaginable heartbreak within her family. Just 18 months ago, her youngest son tragically lost his father to cancer. Today, the family faces another devastating chapter as Sue battles to remain by her childrenโ€™s side.

For more than a decade, Sue has dedicated her life to teaching young children at a local primary school, bringing warmth, patience, and joy into the classroom every single day. Parents, colleagues, and former pupils describe her as the kind of teacher every child remembers โ€” someone who gave not only education, but comfort, encouragement, and laughter.

Five months ago, Sue was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and immediately began an intensive course of Folfirinox chemotherapy. Despite enduring the harsh side effects with remarkable courage, recent scans revealed the disease had continued to spread.
Although standard treatments are beginning to reach their limits, Sueโ€™s family refuse to give up hope.

An advanced treatment known as Histotripsy โ€” a groundbreaking procedure using targeted ultrasound technology to treat liver tumours โ€” could offer new hope in Sueโ€™s fight. However, the treatment is currently unavailable to her through the NHS, meaning the family must raise the funds privately.

They are now urgently trying to raise ยฃ40,000 to cover the cost of the specialist care.
In an emotional plea, Sueโ€™s family said: โ€œShe needs to be here to watch her children grow up, to guide them through lifeโ€™s milestones, and to help heal the heartbreak theyโ€™ve already suffered. The world needs her laughter, her school needs her passion, and her children need their mum.โ€

Every donation raised will go directly towards Sueโ€™s Histotripsy treatment and helping support her family through the difficult months ahead.

Friends say even the smallest contribution could make a difference in helping a woman who has spent years giving so much back to her community.

As support continues to grow, one message remains clear throughout the village and beyond โ€” Sue has spent her life caring for others, and now it is the communityโ€™s turn to stand beside her.

Scunthorpe First Baby Rainbow Memorial Gardens ๐ŸŒˆ ๐Ÿ’™

4 years ago today we opened the baby rainbow memorial garden. And what 4 years its been I never thought the impact it would have on so many people lifes. From earlier miscarriage, stillborn pregnancy loss and baby loss from any stage of pregnancy and what we have learned from speaking to other families in messages or talking to them at the baby garden is every griefs different there no book telling you how you cope.
Ive really got mix emotions every year that passes by, Rory will be 7 in October and through every milestone ive missed i think Im never going to know about my gawjus baby boy because at just 9 days old ๐Ÿ’” he was taken from us. Rory was not here long but he was loved so much, i can't remember much about the day he passed away the only thing that stays in my mind is the pain that never leaves us, the future we had just taken away i remember who was there when I needed them, most did not have to say anything I thank them all.

Now back to baby garden its there to remember all our angel babies just sit and think go talk to them at birthdays, Christmas I know when I'm there and someone comes to me to talk about their baby loss I know I'm not alone and there is so many people out there that need someone just to talk and listen. Pregnancy and baby loss is not talked about enough i know sometimes there is nothing you can say but to know you are not alone helps people. I love to hear people say Rorys name it might make me cry ๐Ÿ˜ข but to know he made a difference and was here for a reason because our babies matter and they were here and make a difference to our lives. I know Rory makes me look at life so much different and what matters in my life i will always feel like there missing piece in my life so carry on sending rainbows, Rory ๐ŸŒˆ

We can't thank everyone enough for all there help and support over the years ๐Ÿ™

So let keep remembering our angel babies
Because you are never alone you might wake up and feel like it's day one again but the next day might be a bit better
