Reminder about our daily collections - all welcome.
Wednesday's collection is in the shed just behind St John in the Field church hall & the fridge is full to bursting. Lots of fruit, strawberries, blueberries, melons, bananas, apples and oranges & veg, courgettes potatoes some broccoli and cauliflower, some other bits and pieces. Plenty packs of sliced ham, chicken and a few beef packets. Also TONS of bread & frozen pasties.

Thanks to all the volunteers who collected this from the 3 local Co-ops, Asda, Sainsbury's, The Cornish bakery & Gleaning Cornwall. It takes them so much time and energy to do this, using their own vehicles and fuel.

Anybody is welcome to collect free food, if not for yourself, then for someone else who might need it.
We don’t have a traditional queuing system. Just rock up and everyone who arrives on time picks a spoon with a number to determine their space in the queue. This means there is no need to queue or come early. Those who arrive after the set time queue as normal. We are usually finished in 15 to 20 minutes.
Bring a normal shopping bag to fill up.

This last year (1st April 25 - 31st March 26) we rescued more than 27 tonnes of surplus food from landfill, with volunteers giving 2,264 hours of their time to collect, sort, cook, share and deliver food. People were supported 7,628 times by Foodshare through free food collections, deliveries and affordable community meals.
Thanks to the volunteers who not only do all this work, but also help us with recording all these stats, weighing the food every time they collect, counting out how many people come to collections and recording all their hours.

🍌 BANANA MOUNTAIN! 🍌
We’ve rescued so many bananas that we can’t find homes for them all! 😅
If you know anyone who might be interested in taking a large quantity of ripe bananas, please share this post with them.

We’d much rather see them eaten than composted. 🍌💚 There are so many possibilities – banana bread, banana biscuits, smoothies, or freeze them in chunks for homemade banana ice cream!

We already have plenty for our own supply, so if you know a café, community group, food project, baker or anyone else who could put a LOT of bananas to good use, please get in touch or share this post.

If we can’t find homes for them, the bulk will sadly have to go to compost. Our friends at St Ives Community Orchard love our food waste for composting, but we’d love to see these bananas have another life first!

🍌 Foodshare collections:

Monday | 5.30pm
St Ives Rugby Club, TR26 1ER

Tuesday | 12.30pm
The CORE, St Ives Community Orchard, Penbeagle Lane, TR26 2HA

Wednesday | 11.30am
St John in-the-Fields Hall, St Ives, TR26 2FB

They will probably need to composted by Thursday.

Please share with anyone who might be able to give our banana mountain a good home! 🍌🍌🍌

We'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone that visited us at the Kevranna fun day. What a marvellous turnout for a great community cause.

Thanks also go to the businesses in town that supported our raffle with their generous donations, they include:
Chapels cafe, breakfast for 2
The Golden Lion, dinner for 2
Molly Hocking, Salad Shop, lunch for £10
Ice creams with Linda on the harbour, and many donations coming from the local community.

We all had a great fun day, with live music, face paints, hair braiding and a pre-loved donation table, where people went home with great bargains.

All money raised will be used for Kevranna social group and goes towards costs and equipment for the future.

Kevranna is a place in the community, for the community, run by the community. It’s a Cornish word that means to share, we share a meal each Wednesday, we share our crafts and we share the love, open for adults every Wednesday, from 10 to 1.30 at St John’s in the field hall. Pop in, it’s free ☺️. Thank you all.
