Did you know that Uttlesford Foodbank is an accredited J9 Safe Space?
The World Cup brings people together. Sadly, it's not a time of excitement and celebration for all.
A study by Lancaster University highlighted some troubling trends around large football events: reports of domestic abuse soared by 38% when England lost a game and by 26% when they played. Alcohol, drugs and gambling can play a part in this. The timings of this year's England games mean that many matches don't start until after 9pm, with many licensed venues having longer opening hours.
For almost two years we have been an accredited J9 Safe Space. This is a place where people can find a dedicated room if they are experiencing difficulty in a relationship. It's a safe space to visit, with staff who are trained and can offer a listening ear. There's access to wi-fi and printing, and a space to make private phone calls.
If you or someone you know would benefit from using our safe space, either now or some time in the future, we can be contacted: [email protected]
