Rugeley Rotary celebrated Rotary Social month by joining together for a coach trip to Bakewell Market followed by a two hour narrow boat cruise on the Cromford Canal. A bonus was a delicious cream tea on board the Birdswood. We also learned about the involvement in the building of the canal and the offshoot Nightingale Canal of Peter Nightingale, Grt. Uncle to Florence Nightingale.

Our Buddy Benches for Redbrook Hayes School and John Taylor School being built for us by the great team at COGS.👏

This week we delivered a Buddy Bench to Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School. These Buddy Benches are part of Rotary’s global focus on peacebuilding and conflict prevention. Children who want someone to talk with can sit on the bench and a Friendship Ambassador, School Councillor or other children are encouraged to invite them to join in an activity or just chat. The bench was presented to Lucy Turner, head teacher at Redbrook Hayes School and two of their pupils by our Youth Lead and representatives of Cherry Orchard Garden Services who make the benches for us.
