Today we are wishing everyone a heartfelt Father’s day, and we’d like to acknowledge all the wonderful Fathers out there, including the ones that sadly can no longer be with us 💙

We honour the extraordinary fathers who support us, helping us to continue our lifesaving missions. We wish everyone a joy-filled day, full of love, appreciation, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR attended the collision involving two trains at Elstow near Bedford at around 5.15pm on Friday 19 June. Two of our critical care teams supported on scene, alongside colleagues from other air ambulances and emergency services. Our crews transported two patients to hospital to receive further treatment.

Our thoughts are with all those affected and their families at this time.

Help build a base that gives more people like Rosie the chance to survive - https://bigbases.uk/BBA

Rosie was just 11 when she needed the air ambulance. In April 2017, a sudden accident left her with severe injuries including fractures to her legs, shoulder, pelvis, and jaw. Thanks to the rapid response of the crew, Rosie was flown to Birmingham Children's Hospital and Charity in just seven minutes for emergency surgery.

Rosie’s story is a powerful reminder of why every second counts. A mission-ready base helps our crews respond faster, so they can be there when someone needs lifesaving care most.

Today, Rosie is a university student, plays hockey, performs in productions, and even climbed Snowdon to thank the team that saved her life.

Our Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR crews responded to 63 missions last week, with a slightly greater focus on daytime callouts than night-time ones. Wednesday was the busiest day, and across the year so far, Friday has remained our busiest day on average.

Medical incidents, including cardiac arrests, were the most common reason for deployment at 45%, followed by RTCs at 22% and falls at 11%. Smaller numbers of assaults, industrial and agricultural incidents, sports-related calls and other missions made up the rest of the week’s activity, with patients taken to 6 different hospitals.

With the longest day just around the corner, our teams continue to make the most of every extra minute of daylight. Learn more about our missions here: https://airamb.uk/mission

We’re delighted that Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce has named The Air Ambulance Service as its Charity of the Year for 2026/27. This fantastic support will help us build new connections, raise awareness of our lifesaving work, and strengthen our ties with the local business community.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Chamber, including Jenny Copeland, and to Andrew Partridge and the TAAS team for helping make this partnership possible. We’re grateful for the opportunity and look forward to working together over the year ahead.

May by the numbers 🚁

Our Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR crews completed 365 missions last month, making it our busiest month of 2026 so far. Of those callouts, 224 were by aircraft and 121 by Critical Care Car, averaging 11.77 missions a day.

Today is World Blood Donor Day, a chance to recognise and thank the incredible people who donate blood and help save lives every day.

For patients experiencing severe trauma, major blood loss or life-threatening injuries, access to blood can be critical. Our crews see first-hand the difference that donated blood can make in an emergency.

Every blood donation has the potential to help multiple people and ensure lifesaving treatment is available when it is needed most.

To everyone who gives blood – thank you. Your generosity helps save lives and gives hope to patients and their families during some of their most difficult moments.

Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR in numbers: 11th–17th June 🚁

- 67 missions across our five counties and beyond.
- 20 callouts on Friday, making it the busiest day of the week.
- 7 hospitals receiving patients.
- 56% of missions at night, showing how much of this work happens after dark.

The most common reason for deployment was medical incidents, with RTCs, psychiatric incidents and other trauma also making up a significant share of the week’s activity. Other missions this week included sports, industrial, burns and falls.

Each one of these missions relies on specialist care being ready to respond. Please consider making a donation to help keep our crews there when patients need them most: https://ylaa.uk/donate 💛
