What a fantastic weekend we had last week for 1st Ripley Scout Troop! 🌟We kicked things off with a great hike working on our map skills, starting in Belper, making our way all the way back to the Ripley Scout Hut. Along the journey, we also had the chance to enjoy the Ayup Me Duck Trail Amber Valley Borough Council. To top it all off, we finished with a brilliant night camping outside at the hut. Well done to all our Scouts, young leaders, leaders and a Beaver that tagged along! 🏕️

Yesterday the Cubs went to Alfreton Town FC to watch The Reds play against Peterborough Sports. Despite Alfreton losing 2-0 the Cubs had a great time, and gave a guard of honour to the players as they came onto the field. They cheered and sang, ate sweets and cheered some more, then got to meet the players and get autographs after the match!

What a wonderful morning we had as 1st Ripley visited King William Residential Home to spread some festive cheer! 🎶🎄 The Young people and leaders sang beautiful Christmas songs for the residents, filling the home with smiles and plenty of Christmas spirit.

After the singing, the young people spent time chatting with the residents creating some truly special moments across generations ❤️. It was lovely to see the joy on everyone’s faces and the connections made during this festive visit.

A huge thank you to the residents and staff at King William Residential Home for welcoming us so warmly and well done to all the young people from 1st Ripley for being such fantastic ambassadors of kindness and community. 🌟

We have been supporting Ripley Salvation Army with their Christmas Gift Appeal. Throughout all of November we have been collecting gifts that can be donated to families who need support this Christmas.

Yesterday we took in a very large boot full of toys, including colouring books, games, craft sets, books, cuddly toys and even some roller skates! All of these have been brought in by parents and leaders from our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

We hope these make a big difference to our community this Christmas. No child should go without a present.

If you want to donate new toys still, please take them to Ripley Salvation Army on Heath Road, on Friday 11am-2pm, or Monday morning after 9am. They will then sort through everything and organise gifts for the children and families who need the help.

On behalf of the Salvation Army, thank you so much to everyone who donated.

Tonight the Cubs were building Lego habitats for a variety of animals, put them on display and talked about what they’d made. There was some really amazing building happening!

Ripley - you are amazing! 🤩 We have such an amazing community of shops and local businesses.

The Cubs have had a great evening playing ‘Ripopoly’ tonight, rolling dice, following clues, buying, trading and selling properties around Ripley.

A super thank you to all the local businesses who have taken part and have helped make the evening so successful. Nearly twenty businesses put signs in their windows with location codes and clues to the next ‘properties’ they could buy. ❤️

An even more special thank you to Ripley’s Fish & Chip Shop, Brown Bear Cafe and Jack in a Box, who all donated prizes for the winning team. The gift boxes are fantastic!

We couldn’t have done it without their support; thank you again - the kids had a fantastic time tonight.
