Joseph Crowe from 2nd Rhyl has achieved every single activity badge available in Cubs – and every single one in Beavers too. When he realised he had one badge left to earn before moving up to Scouts, he didn’t give up. He got on a horse for the very first time and made it happen. 🐴

Mae Joseph Crowe o 2il Rhyl wedi ennill pob bathodyn gweithgaredd sydd ar gael yn y Cubs – a phob un yn y Beavers hefyd. Pan sylweddolodd fod un bathodyn ar ôl cyn symud i fyny i’r Scouts, wnaeth o ddim rhoi’r gorau iddi. Camodd ar gefn ceffyl am y tro cyntaf erioed, a llwyddo. 🐴

Thanks Penny for all that you do.

Meet Penny 👋 Penny is a Beaver volunteer with 2nd Rhyl Scout Group. She brings her passion for creativity and love of being out and about to the colony. This week Penny celebrated and amazing 5 years as a volunteer.

By day Penny works alongside her husband David (who’s also one of our awesome volunteers) as a gardener. They both share their interest of nature and the outdoors with the Beavers, teaching them lots of new skills and encouraging them to be inquisitive.

Cyfarfod â Penny 👋 Mae Penny yn wirfoddolwraig gyda’r Afancod yn 2il Rhyl. Mae hi’n dod â’i hangerdd dros greadigrwydd a’i chariad at fod allan ac o gwmpas i’r nythfa. Yr wythnos hon, dathlodd Penny 5 mlynedd anhygoel fel gwirfoddolwraig.

📚 World Book Day | Diwrnod y Llyfr Byd 🌍

Today we’re celebrating World Book Day and the incredible power of stories, words, and imagination.

Across Vale of Clwyd Scouts, young people explore reading and storytelling through badges like the Squirrels Story Time Badge, Beavers and Cubs Book Reader Badges, and the Scouts Librarian Badge. These badges help young people discover the joy of books while building skills that stay with them for life.

Reading opens the door to new worlds. A story can take us on adventures, help us understand different people and cultures, and spark creativity and curiosity. It strengthens literacy, confidence and communication, while encouraging imagination and problem solving.

Whether it’s sharing a bedtime story, discovering a favourite character, or helping organise books for others to enjoy, reading helps young people grow, learn and dream big.

Today we celebrate the power of words, the magic of books, and the young people across our district who are turning pages and discovering new adventures every day.

Heddiw rydym yn dathlu Diwrnod y Llyfr Byd a grym anhygoel straeon, geiriau a dychymyg.

Ar draws Vale of Clwyd Scouts, mae pobl ifanc yn archwilio darllen a straeon trwy fathodynnau fel Bathodyn Story Time Squirrels, Bathodynnau Book Reader Beavers a Cubs, a Bathodyn Librarian Scouts. Mae’r bathodynnau hyn yn helpu pobl ifanc i ddarganfod llawenydd llyfrau wrth ddatblygu sgiliau pwysig sy’n aros gyda nhw am oes.

Mae darllen yn agor y drws i fydau newydd. Gall stori ein tywys ar anturiaethau, ein helpu i ddeall pobl a diwylliannau gwahanol, a thanio creadigrwydd a chwilfrydedd. Mae hefyd yn cryfhau llythrennedd, hyder a sgiliau cyfathrebu, tra’n annog dychymyg a datrys problemau.

Boed hynny’n rhannu stori cyn cysgu, darganfod hoff gymeriad, neu helpu i drefnu llyfrau i eraill eu mwynhau, mae darllen yn helpu pobl ifanc i dyfu, dysgu a breuddwydio’n fawr.

It is with deep sadness we share that Chas, our dedicated Explorer Scout Leader has passed away. Chas was an inspiring leader with Bobcats ESU, a constant source of encouragement and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His enthusiasm, kindness and commitment to giving young people opportunities to grow and thrive have left a lasting impact on our group and our community.

As we come together to support one another during the difficult time, we hold his family and friends, especially Jan, in our thoughts. Chas will be greatly missed, but his spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the many lives he touched. He has Gone Home, may he rest in peace.

This morning our Cubs, Scouts and Bobcats Explorers attended the Remembrance service and parade to the Cenotaph in Rhyl to honour those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Thanks to our young people, especially our standard-bearers and Joseph for laying our wreath, along with our volunteer leaders, for turning out and representing us with pride today.

We will remember them. Lest we forget.

56 years ago today, Neil Armstrong made history as the first person to set foot on the moon! 👨‍🚀🌕

One small step for man, one giant leap for Scouting too ⚜️ As an Eagle Scout, Armstrong even took his World Scout Badge to the moon. 🤩
