If you are struggling to process lots of information, use a notebook or phone app (for example, ‘Notes’ on iPhone) to jot things down as soon as you think of them.

This may help support you to retain the information, process it in your own time and allow yourself to be present in the moment and not feel overwhelmed.

Today, members enjoyed a wonderful visit to the beautiful RSPB Conwy nature reserve, taking in the stunning scenery, wildlife, and fresh air.

The day was rounded off with a delicious lunch at The Cove - Deganwy Quay Hotel, where everyone had the opportunity to relax, chat, and enjoy each other's company.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so enjoyable. We look forward to more social outings together!

Hidden Disabilities...

You can’t always see the effects of a brain injury. Fatigue, memory loss, and emotional changes are often invisible.

Being supportive and giving a person time is what matters the most.

As we come to the end of Action for Brain Injury Week, we’re delighted to announce Dr Bruce Powell as a new Headway UK ambassador!

This year’s ABI Week campaign has highlighted the isolation and loneliness many people can experience after brain injury - something Bruce understands deeply through both his professional and personal experiences.

Bruce is a former intensive care doctor who became a writer and brain injury advocate after a near-fatal cycling accident caused a severe brain injury and major memory loss. Having experienced medicine from both sides of the bed - first as a doctor, then as a patient - he now speaks openly about the realities of life after brain injury and the long process of rebuilding confidence, identity and connection.

Through his writing, podcasts and advocacy work, Bruce is helping people affected by brain injury feel seen, understood and less alone. His compassion and insight make him an incredible advocate for Headway, and we’re thrilled to welcome him on board.

This week in parliament, brain injury survivors and carers shared their experiences of isolation and loneliness with MPs and members of the House of Lords as part of our ‘We see you’ campaign for Action for Brain Injury Week.

You may have seen Avril and Sophie featured in our ABI Week campaign this week as they shared their story of life after brain injury. On Tuesday, they were in parliament alongside members of Headway Meirionnydd, speaking directly to parliamentarians about the impact brain injury can have on survivors, families and carers.

They also shared the difference support can make. Through Headway, new friendships can form, confidence can rebuild and people can feel less alone.

Our latest survey found that almost 9 in 10 brain injury survivors and carers experience loneliness after brain injury. But 72% of survivors who attend a local Headway group say it helps them feel less lonely.
