Ridgegate Home

Ridgegate Home A charitable residential care home for the elderly, able to accommodate up to twenty-three residents in safe and comfortable surroundings.

Ridgegate Home was established as a registered charity in 1946. We are a not-for-profit residential care home for elderly individuals who are unable to, or have chosen not to, maintain a home of their own. The home is administered by the board of Trustees and our Registered Manager, who take a keen role in maintaining a professional care service for our elderly residents.

Yesterday afternoon our Residents enjoyed a wonderful hour of entertainment with Beth 'Musical Memories'

Beth interacted with all of the Resident's, and had them singing and dancing in their seats.

It was a lovely session filled with happiness and laughter.
Thank you Beth ❤️❤️

We’re starting essential enabling works to support the build of our new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at East Surrey Hospital.

These early works include safely connecting underground utilities to the site and are an important step in improving urgent and emergency care for our local community.

From Monday 1 June to Tuesday 23 June, temporary traffic management will be in place during this period, including a one-way system at our main entrance to East Surrey Hospital.

During this period:

- Canada Avenue will become one-way during the works. Most traffic will not be able to exit the site via the Three Arches Road roundabout.

- The only exit route from the hospital for most vehicles will be via the south exit on Canada Drive onto Three Arches Road. Vehicles will still be able to enter the site from this route.

- Canada Avenue will be closed from Goods In to the disabled parking area. The closure area is highlighted in red on the map below.

- Bus services will continue to operate as normal throughout the works.

- All other traffic will be diverted via the south exit onto Three Arches Road. Buses, main entrance drop-offs and pick-ups, and emergency vehicles will still be able to exit via the main entrance.

There will be additional signage on site to support the flow of traffic.

We are working to minimise disruption while ensuring patients can continue to access services safely.

We’ll continue to share updates as the project progresses. Read more here https://bit.ly/4nTZLG8

We spent a couple of hours in the garden yesterday and it was just lovely.

We chatted about Ridgegate's history, how beautiful the house and garden is, and our upcoming Garden Party, where we will be celebrating Ridgegate's 80th Anniversary.

Invitations have been sent out by email, and we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate with us.

Continuing with supporting Dementia Action Week, our Residents played games, did word searches, completed their 'All About Me' sheet, and chatted about the memories that it brought back.

For afternoon refreshments, Ivy baked some (blue and white) 'Forget me Not' cakes, which were enjoyed by all ❤️

In line with Ridgegate supporting Dementia action week, we had a relaxed group chat this afternoon, and some fun with themed word searches, finish the phrases and forget me not colouring.

For the Resident's who choose to participate, they completed an 'All about Me'? handout. This gave our Resident's the opportunity to reminisce and share thoughts and stories with each other.

There were lots of different answers given, but favourite food? seemed to be a 'Roast Dinner' for most, and the things that are special to me? was a resounding
'My Family'
❤️❤️❤️❤️

This week, we are proud to be supporting Dementia Action Week 💙

At Ridgegate Home, dementia care is not simply part of what we do - it is something incredibly close to the hearts of our entire team, our residents, and all those who love them.

Every single day, we are humbled and honoured to support individuals who have lived rich, meaningful and extraordinary lives before us. Behind every diagnosis is a person with memories, achievements, humour, relationships, passions and stories that deserve to be known, celebrated and respected.

Person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do. We do not see “a dementia resident” - we see the individual. Their condition does not define them.

There are currently estimated to be around 1 million people living with dementia in the UK, with numbers expected to continue rising in the years ahead. For so many families, dementia has touched their lives in one way or another.

That is why awareness, compassion, understanding and support matter so deeply.

This Dementia Action Week, we encourage everyone to support the incredible work of Alzheimer's Society - whether that is through fundraising, sharing awareness, learning more about dementia, or simply taking the time to better understand those living with the condition.

Together, we can continue to create a world where people living with dementia feel valued, understood, respected and never alone. 💙
