The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAF AC), better known as the ‘Air Cadets’, is a UK-wide cadet force with more than 50,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years. The RAF AC is sponsored by the MOD and can give you hands-on activities that will challenge & develop your skills. Along with this you will gain nationally recognised qualifications that will help you succeed and stand out to any future employer or further education.

Today CI Porter and CI Ferris took 5 eager cadets to represent 2316 at the Kent Wing Athletics Competition in Ashford. It is the first time we have had cadets at this event for a long time and it’s safe to say they have put Sheppey Squadron back on the map!
We achieved:
3rd in the U18 girls 100m
2nd in the U18 girls 200m
2nd in the U16 boys 200m
2nd in the U16 boys Long Jump
3rd in the U16 boys Discus
We also just missed out on some medals in the U16 boys Shot Put, High Jump, 100m, 300m, 1500m and 4 x 100m relay.
As a squadron we are very proud of you all, well done!

At the weekend, 12 of our cadets joined other cadets across Kent Wing at the Defence Training Establishment, Mereworth Woods, for an exciting and challenging event; a Decathlon.

The event consisted of ten different activities:
• Navigation Exercise
• First Aid
• Observation Exercise
• Archery
• Leadership
• Vehicle Pull
• Sports
• Radio & Cyber
• STEM
• Drill

Our cadets demonstrated enthusiasm and determination throughout each activity and did Sheppey Squadron proud.

A massive thank you to all the staff in Kent Wing for organising and running this activity.

Gliding at Upavon

Today, 4 of our cadets and CI Porter had the opportunity to go gliding at Upavon airfield thanks to 662 VGS. For all of the cadets it was their first time airborne with the ATC. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and cannot wait to get in the air again!

A massive thank you to all the volunteers at 662 VGS for making this a very memorable day for all involved.
