I’m thinking of organising a free fermentation workshop around the end of September or beginning of October for anyone who would genuinely like to learn how to make sauerkraut and kimchi.🥬🥕

Before I set a date, I’d like to find out whether there is enough genuine interest. I’m currently thinking of a weekday evening.

If you would like to attend, please comment below or send me a message. It would also be helpful to know which weekday evenings generally work best for you.

This would be a practical, hands-on session where we can learn together, make fermented foods and enjoy spending time together as a community. 😊

Did you know that most adults and children do not meet the minimum recommendations for fibre intake🥗, according to the National Diet and Nutrition Survey 2019–2023?📊

Fibre is important for our digestive health, helps keep us feeling fuller for longer🕛, supports healthy blood sugar🩸 and cholesterol levels, and feeds the beneficial bacteria in our gut.🦠

So when I was asked to run a cooking class for kids and families at the MET event this year, I decided to make fibre the main focus.🥭

I started by explaining that dietary fibre comes from plant foods and asked the children to name as many edible plants as they could think of. 🍌

Then I told each child how much fibre they need to eat each day. Kids love learning things that specifically apply to them!🧒❤️

After that, I showed them just how easy it can be to get enough fibre throughout the day when we include a variety of plant foods in our meals.🍲

For breakfast, we made Overnight Oats and added fruit, nuts and seeds.🍓🫐 We counted the grams of fibre together as we built our breakfast — so they could actually see how quickly the numbers add up.
And at the end, everyone got to top their own pot of overnight oats with their favourite seeds. 🥣
