Come to our meetings...
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm at:
The Weatherley Centre
Biggleswade
SG18 8JH

Who are we? Lions are men and women of all ages from all walks of life who give time to serve those less fortunate than themselves in the local and world-wide community
Our Members have a wide range of skills available in a club that comprises members from various backgrounds, a tremendous asset when tackling Fundraising or Community service projects. How we work:
To finance our projects we raise funds by organising and running events such as Concerts, Race Nights, Bookstalls, Stands at fairs, Christmas Sleigh Runs, Car Boot Sales , Coffee Mornings and Social Evenings. Our fundraising is undertaken with an air of enjoyment and fun. This is important as it contributes to the overall success of the event and a feeling of well-being in having been involved and been one of the team. All visitors are most welcome

SIGHT WEEK

💛💙 THANK YOU! 👓

To everyone who has dropped their old glasses off at our pick uo pounts…you absolute legends!

Your donations go a long way (literally) and will make a huge difference to people who truly need them.

So… what does happen to your old specs? Well, gather round…

🦁 Our own Biggleswade Sandy Lions collect glasses from various locations in and around Biggleswade, they get sorted (see below) boxed up and delivered to Birmingham.

🔍 There, a team of volunteers sort, clean, and grade them.

🌍 The good ones are sent off to eye clinics in developing countries…often during eye care missions or via charities like ‘Unite for Sight’ They’re then given to individuals who need them, helping to transform lives with the gift of sight.

And what about the ones that can’t be reused?
♻️ They’re recycled, and the money raised gets ploughed back and supports eye-related projects.

Nothing goes to waste!

We also collect hearing aids

We’d like to give a special shoutout to our very own Lion Ian 🦁👓
He’s our one-man spectacle-sorting-boxing them up and often delivering them machine (seriously, we’re convinced he might be part octopus!)
Whether it’s bags, boxes, or mystery piles of frames, Ian handles them all.
I’ve definitely lost count, but we reckon he’s sorted through millions — and we couldn’t do it without him.

Thank you again to you all for supporting this amazing cause.

You’re helping people see the world more clearly — and that’s something pretty spectacular. 💛💙
