Kim has been volunteering with Potton Hall for All since 1994! When it became a charity in 2014, she became a Trustee and lends a hand with grant fundraising, events and the Management Committee. She told us that she decided to begin volunteering with us because after moving to Potton she could see it was such a lively place and agreed that it needed a bigger community space for all the great activities that go on there!

Kim has enjoyed collaborating with the local community to develop the new hall based on their feedback as well as working in partnership with CBC and the Town Council. She enjoys project development and has brought her 25+ years of fundraising and funding development experience to the project.

She said “Volunteering for Potton Hall for All has introduced me to lots of different people in the Town and many are now firm friends. It is good to work with others who have a different approach and that by working together we can achieve what many thought was impossible!”

Thank you Kim, we appreciate everything you do for us.

Ceri is a newbie volunteer with Potton Hall for All, although she has volunteered extensively within the community where she previously lived. As well as helping on the Friends Group and the Management Committee, Ceri finds time to volunteer with Party on Potton too. Well done!

She said “After moving to Potton, I wanted to become involved in the local community and get to know people. Volunteering seemed like a great way to contribute, meet new friends, and support an organisation that plays an important role in bringing people together.”

She’s really enjoyed meeting people and becoming more connected to the community. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming, and it's been lovely to feel part of something that benefits local residents.

Ceri also told us that volunteering has helped her build new friendships and feel more settled in Potton. It has given her a sense of belonging and the opportunity to contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

She added “Although I haven't been volunteering for very long, I've enjoyed seeing how much can be achieved when people come together with a shared goal. It's been inspiring to see the commitment and enthusiasm of everyone involved.”

Thank you Ceri, we appreciate everything you do for us.

Every contribution matters, and you'll probably gain just as much as you give.”

John has been volunteering with Potton Hall for All at various stages of the project. He is currently a Potton Town Council representative on the Management Committee and first got involved on the Hall for All committee in the early 90’s, when we only had a dream of finding a site and then building a hall.

John told us he got involved because he recognised the need for a large hall that could be used for sport, entertainment and large private functions. The largest hall available at the time was St Mary’s Hall or the school if the function fitted in with their operation.

John said “The most rewarding part of my volunteering is actually managing to build the hall and then setting about getting it operational. It has been great to see organisations being able to have access to a functional hall that meets their needs.”
He recommends getting involved and said, “There are so many opportunities now that we have a large hall and hopefully people will come forward to drive the project forward.”

Thank you John, we appreciate everything you do for us.

Judy has been volunteering with Potton Hall for All on and off for 40 years! She now heads up the Friends Group and is a valued member of the Management Committee too. She told us that she decided to begin volunteering with us as she wanted a Hall that was big enough for a wide range of activities to be available for my children and grandchildren.

Judy enjoys meeting members of the community who use the hall. She also loves being part of the team who creates fund raising events – they enjoy the team meetings and the events that they put on. She said “I like to know what’s going on in Potton, and I now have a wider group of friends. “

She added “Volunteering is a positive experience for people of any age. For young people, it can help on your CV to show that you interested in the organisation you volunteer for, plus demonstrates skills that employers will be looking for. For retired people, it offers opportunities to meet new people and avoid loneliness and isolation. Whatever you volunteer for, can make a difference to other people as well as giving you a sense of purpose and satisfaction.”

Thank you Judy, we appreciate everything you do for us.

Abi has been volunteering on our Management Committee for about a year. She told us that she decided to begin volunteering with the hall as she has experience in sales & events so thought her background would benefit a local community hall as it opens. It certainly has been!

Abi loves the collaboration between everyone who volunteers for the hall. From the Chairman, to the team that runs the day to day and also the friends group who organise the fundraising events, so we can further enhance the hall. Everyone plays an important role.

She said “I have learnt about website design, fundraising and the importance of a different point of view. I would absolutely recommend volunteering. You get to collaborate with people you wouldn't normally get the pleasure of meeting and bring a different viewpoint or idea to the table.”

Thank you Abi, we appreciate everything you do for us.
