“I’d Rather Fight For Putin”

“I’d rather share my neighbourhood with armed Russians”

These are the views of a current sitting Reform Councillor up the road in Okehampton, Devon.

A new investigation by Hope Not Hate has uncovered deeply concerning antisemitic and Islamophobic content linked to a Reform candidate here in Plymouth. This isn’t about political differences - it’s about basic standards. Language that targets whole communities has no place in our city.

Plymouth is better than this. We’re at our best when we look out for one another and stand together across our differences. Let’s keep Plymouth kind - and make clear there’s no room here for hate.

The Times newspaper has uncovered concerning comments from a Plymouth Reform candidate, including that “the Jews” are “creating division by forcing other races on our societies” and posts encouraging violence against a place of worship.

There is no place in Plymouth for this kind of hate.

The Government got rid of the two-child cap because it was leaving families short and pushing kids into poverty. Now Reform UK say they would bring it back.

In Plymouth, that would hit over 1,700 households.

That’s local mums and dads, many of them working, who would lose support for a third child, no matter their situation.

Bringing it back would mean:

• Less money coming into some of the poorest homes in our city
• More stress for parents already counting every penny
• More Plymouth children growing up without the basics

Taking money away from families who are already struggling isn’t “being tough”. It’s unfair - and it would hurt people in our city.

There would also be changes to Motability and to support for mental health problems

Plymouth Knows Better started with a simple idea: our city deserves thoughtful leadership with decisions made in the interests of our whole community.

But over the past year, something bigger has been happening - here in Plymouth and across the country. We’ve seen a rise in division, misinformation, and far-right politics that don’t reflect who we are as a city.

That’s why this page is becoming Keep Plymouth Kind.

It’s about standing up for the values that most people in Plymouth share: fairness, decency, respect, and looking out for one another.

Plymouth is a proud, diverse, and resilient city. We don’t need hate or scapegoating. We need community, honesty, and kindness.

So this page will now focus on calling out hate when we see it, supporting people who bring our city together, and reminding ourselves what Plymouth stands for.

Because Plymouth doesn’t just know better - Plymouth is better when we’re kind.

BREAKING: Plymouth has voted to reject the failed city mayor experiment.

Plymouth really does know better. People saw through this failed, costly experiment and they made that known at the ballot box. On a turnout of just 19.11% - one of the lowest in the city’s election history - a clear majority voted to retain the current leader and cabinet model.

This referendum was always a waste of time and public money. Voter turnout was one of the lowest Plymouth has ever seen - not because people didn’t care, but because they knew it was pointless.

New legislation is clear: Plymouth would never have a city mayor. That’s been known for months. But Mr Forbes pushed ahead anyway, wasting £410,000 that could have gone on services people in Plymouth want to see.

Plymouth has sent a clear message. We call on Mr Forbes to take responsibility for this waste, and foot the bill for this vanity project so Plymouth gets its money back.
