🌍 Today is Stop Food Waste Day 🌍

At Leadworks and Stonehouse Community Fridge, we believe community care and sustainability go hand in hand. 💚

Every day, perfectly good food is thrown away simply because it is close to the date on the label. Through our Stonehouse Community Fridge, we are helping change that.

Thanks to our incredible volunteers, surplus food is collected from Co-op, Sainsbury's, Aldi UK & Bookers and food delivered by surplus redistributers FareShare South West is made available at the fridge for local residents to take home and enjoy. This not only helps reduce waste going to landfill, but also supports individuals and families in our local community.

🥕 Understanding food labels helps reduce waste:
Best before dates are about quality — food is often still safe to eat after this date.
Use by dates are about safety and should always be followed carefully.

Together, small actions can make a big difference. By sharing food, reducing waste, and looking out for one another, we are building a stronger, more connected Stonehouse community.
