She’s the one who spots potential before anyone else does. Who shows up without being asked, stays longer than she needs to, and somehow makes the impossible feel manageable. The colleague, the mentor, the teammate, the friend who quietly changes the trajectory of everyone lucky enough to work alongside her.

During the session, we’ll focus on:

Last year, Emma from stood on that stage and took home the Small Business of the Year Award at the West Country Women Awards.

She told us it meant everything - not just for her, but for her business and the families she has the privilege of working with every day.

The Women in Sport Award celebrates the women shaping sport across the South West, on the pitch, behind the scenes, or breaking new ground entirely.

Maybe she’s the player who’s also fighting on boards and behind the scenes to get women’s sport taken as seriously as the men’s game. Maybe she’s the one who’s turned personal adversity into something extraordinary, breaking records and opening doors for other women along the way. Or maybe she’s simply the woman who shows up every single week, giving everything so other women and girls get the chance to play too.

These are the women who don’t always get the headlines, but they’re the ones changing what’s possible in the South West.

One of our previous winners, Lexi Chambers, took home the Women in Sport award, and now she’s sharing what that recognition meant to her and why nominating someone truly matters.

Lexi is currently in training for an incredible challenge - wheeling up Alpe d’Huez - and talks about what being nominated meant to her, and why putting someone forward for a WCWA award really can be the start of something much bigger.
