đź’ĄThis week our volunteer spotlight is on Sally!đź’Ą

Sally has been coming to the garden for many years, and has been helping us make our herb bunches for our veg bags which often feel like the star of the show!

Sally is an integral part of the growing links crew, often taking the lead on our open days and helping everything to run smoothly! With the most impressive apron collection we’ve ever seen!

Thank you Sally! We couldn’t do it without you! ✨🌷

If you’d like to get involved with Growing Links will be rolling out the next cohort in our beautiful community garden and kitchen in July. Contact us or Volunteer Cornwall for more information. You will need a Type 2 diagnosis.

Since autumn last year, 47 participants living with type 2 diabetes or pre diabetes have taken part in Cornwall. WellFed is a 12 week programme that combines free local veg boxes with and growing skills, and community food activities.

Early feedback from our autumn pilots has been really positive and the programme is already showing how VCSE organisations, growers and health partners can work together to improve metabolic health, build community resilience and support a more sustainable local food system.

You can find out more and hear what some of our autumn participants had to say about their experience of taking part here: https://volunteercornwall.org.uk/22-news/633-wellfed-cornwall-better-health-through-local-food

Interim results from our autumn pilots will be shared this summer and more pilots are rolling out countywide over the coming weeks, with full evaluation findings in early 2027.
