This last weekend the Ilkley Unit of the Marine Training Corps which includes cadets from Ilkley, attended a full weekend of training at their northern training centre near Settle. Training for the 12-15 year olds included working in woods and going through training scenarios which tested knowledge in fieldcraft, signals, and tactical movement. On Tuesday night at Ilkley Grammar School where they are based they had a chance to handle military equipment used in WW2. With the up and coming school break, some are off to Germany and others will do navigation skills on Ilkley moor. If interested in joining then follow the links. Search marine training corps org uk.

A great night out for those cadets coming from Otley. Currently mixed with the Ilkley unit the team met at Ilkley Cow and Calf and did some map reading, navigation and finished by doing stalk up onto the instructors. If interested look at the website site and book on through the Ilkley unit.

Are you aware that the MTC have a unit in Ilkley which usually meets on a Tuesday at 7.00 pm at Ilkley Grammar School. However tomorrow due to it being Easter holiday they are doing a navigation exercise on Ilkley moor. We have 3 cadets from the schools in Otley and look forward to receiving more. Whilst we are still setting up our Otley unit anyone interested in joining an organisation who aims to make young people all they can be should join the MTC in Ilkley. February is really the start of the training year with something on each month. Join now as we offer life skills. The MTC is an alternative education provider.
