We recently visited Tennants Fine Art Auctioneers in Leyburn to receive a wonderful donation of £800 from them following the auction of a stamp, postcards and postal history collection. We are incredibly grateful for Tennant’s continued support, as they also donated £600 to us from an auction back in 2024.

Director, Alison Cornwall-Legh explained the decision to donate to us, “Tennants is proud to support Friends of the Friarage and the vital work they do for our local hospital and community. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to such an important cause, and we are delighted to continue our support.”

As the Friarage serves the population of Hambleton and Richmondshire we always welcome an opportunity to spread awareness of what we do further into the Dales. Generous donations like these from Tennants help to ensure we can continue to improve and enhance services at our much-loved hospital.

We’d like to say the biggest thank you to Jaz from Skipton Building Society’s Northallerton branch for recently donating £500 to us. Jaz was the winner of ‘Skipton Stars’ - a national employee recognition award, after being nominated by branch manager, Jayne (pictured). Jaz was praised for her fantastic customer service skills; in particular, working with vulnerable customers on how to be more aware of scams.

Part of Jaz’s prize enabled her to donate £500 to the charity of her choice. She told us she chose Friends of the Friarage after herself and many family members have needed the hospital in the past, and said it was her little bit to help us continue to improve services.

We will certainly put it to good use Jaz, thank you for choosing to support us!

During Dementia Action Week, which recently took place between the 18th-22nd May, wards and departments at the Friarage were encouraged to do their bit to help raise awareness around the hospital to be in with a chance to win dementia-friendly activity packs for their patients.

Friends of the Friarage were delighted to support this initiative with £500 of funding for the products, which have been designed specifically with dementia patients in mind. The items, ranging from jigsaw puzzles, memory boards, painting packs and history books can all help to invoke memories, spark conversation, create a sense of achievement and stimulate or relax the mind.

We visited the wards along with Dementia Lead Nurse, Anna Wilson, and Clinical Educator, Sarah Rowling, to award the prizes to the winners. So many of the wards had put in such a great effort, it was hard to choose just one - therefore it was decided to give the prizes out equally amongst the Ainderby, Romanby, Rutson and Gara wards plus the Outpatients department and Urgent Treatment Centre.

A great effort by all staff and one that Friends of the Friarage were very happy to support.

The Alverton North Lodge Buffaloes (Buffs) visited us at the Friarage recently to present us with a very generous donation of £1,000.00.

Buffs member, Ken explained how part of the fundraising had come through the sale of football cards at Northallerton Working Men’s Club and that as they are a local Lodge and support local charities it was an ideal choice for them to donate the funds to us.

Thank you so much to the Buffs, your donation allows us to keep investing in services at the Friarage, now and in the future 🙌

We've had a wonderful afternoon getting together with just some of our fantastic Friends of the Friarage volunteers, as part of Volunteers' Week celebrations. We're constantly in awe of how much our volunteers give to our charity and we couldn’t do what we do without them. 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who came - and to anyone who couldn’t attend today don't worry - we had such a great time that we’ll be sure to do it again soon!

Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week!

We would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers for all they do for Friends of the Friarage.

Our volunteers are the backbone of our charity and we would not be able to do many of our fundraising events without their help and support.
