Unfortunately one of our speakers had to pull out due health reasons, however we have a superb lady who's stepped up to take her place. Juli Thompson, who'll talk about "Food in Rotary - the missing ingredient". I've heard this talk before and it's brilliant and thought provoking.

Juli is a former chef and teacher, and has spent twenty years working in Bradford on food, community, and what it really means when we say we want to change things. She's the CEO of Inn Churches and the founder of FoodSavers: A unique food model that connects pantries to the credit union partnering with over 40 pantries across West Yorkshire and growing.

But Juli's message goes beyond food banks and pantries. She believes food is the missing ingredient in Rotary's story — a powerful, practical, human way to connect service, health, sustainability and community in one place.

As Food Sustainability and Policy Lead for Rotary District 1040 and Chair of FoodWise Leeds, she's been quietly building the case that Rotary has a unique role to play in food sovereignty not just feeding people in crisis, but helping communities take back control of what they grow, cook, and eat.

Chrissy Sykes may not be a household name, but she is a truly amazing lady with a global impact.

After hearing about a tragic child abuse case - the horrible death of a 4 year old child, Chrissy started MBIMB - My Body is My Body which is now an Internationally acclaimed musical body safety program distributed in over 60 countries worldwide.

3 decades later, Chrissy remains as passionate as ever. Her mission is simple but powerful: to educate, empower, and protect every child through music, love, and community.

Come and hear her talk at There Rotary Bradford Showcase.

I've been a Rotarian for almost 10 years. I'd have joined sooner, however I wasn't aware that Rotary was open to women, yet it has been for 37 years! One of the many myths surrounding the organisation, so have a look at this "myth buster" to dispel all those incorrect beliefs.

Rotary in fact is open to all, regardless of gender, ethnicity or profession. "All" means anyone with the right "Rotary values" such as compassion, integrity, open-mindedness, kindness and so on.

Might this be an organisation you'd like to know more about? then come along to the Rotary Bradford Showcase. There's a conference element where you can register for £40. There is a FREE showcase with 20 stands showing the best of Rotary and where you can chat to people involved in local community and international projects. There is also an informal meal in the evening at The Golden Palms, so if you are unable to make the day events because of other commitments, then come along in the evening and chat to Rotarians over a delicious meal. Good afternoon all.

Today some of the adventurers attended St Peter’s Church to help out Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club in fundraising for the ABCD Gaza charity.

It was lovely to see Dianne and Bill , Jean and Tim and the dog along with fellow Rotarians.

I managed to round all of us up and get a nice picture.

The adventurers were in town 🤩

Ps. I managed to put my L2 Food Hygiene in use today for a few hours in the kitchen. 🥰

Geoff may not be a household name outside of Rotary circles, however he is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He has the ability to talk about a serious subject, yet make it highly witty and amusing. I remember having tears rolling down my face with laughter, so what a way to end the conference element of The Rotary Bradford Showcase.

Words to describe Geoff's life include ‘full’ and ‘varied'. Brought up on a small family farm in the bandit country of South Armagh, N. Ireland, his doctorate concerned the strategic business value of social networks, he first read biology in Liverpool and followed it with a range of post graduate qualifications in Health & Safety and management including a sleepless MBA.

Today he advises and consults to a wide range of strategic and tactical groups covering private, public and third sectors in arenas including science, communications, sustainability, environment and further education. Geoff has a range of trustee and directorships and is a Fellow of the Royal Soc of Chemistry, the Inst of Directors and the Inst of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals. He once won an award for his writing, and raises substantial charitable donations standing on his hind legs in public and talking…

He'll also be chair of the Rotary Great Britain and Ireland board from 1st July 2028
