💳 Have you heard of the Nimbus Access Card?

The Nimbus Access Card, also known as the CredAbility Card, is designed to make it easier for disabled people to communicate their access needs at venues and attractions, without having to repeatedly provide medical letters or other evidence.
Using recognised symbols, the card can help communicate the reasonable adjustments someone may need.

Some of the benefits can include:
- Concessionary pricing at participating venues
- Potential eligibility for free companion tickets
- Recognition at venues across the UK and internationally
- A simple way to communicate access requirements

The card costs £15 and is valid for three years.

Come along to our Ascent College Open Morning!

We would like to invite you to attend our annual Ascent College Open Morning on Friday 6 November 2026, from 10am to 11:30am.

This event provides an opportunity to meet our staff and students, learn more about our educational offer, and gain an insight into the experiences of our current students. You will also have the chance to explore how Ascent College supports autistic young people to achieve their individual outcomes and aspirations.

If you are aware of any young people and their families who are seeking a specialist post-16 or post-19 autism educational provision for September 2027, we would be grateful if you could extend this invitation to them. We would be delighted to welcome them and yourselves to the event.

A big thank you to Becky for coming to Central and teaching us all about AAC as part of AAC Awareness Month!

The team had a great time learning about the different ways people communicate and getting hands-on with a range of AAC methods.

It was a really fun and informative session, and a great opportunity to learn more about how we can support communication in different ways.

Could you be our next Community Governor?

We’re looking for someone from our wider school community to join the Governing Board at Wargrave House School.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in our school and use your skills, experience and ideas to help shape the future of Wargrave House and make a difference to our learners and their families.

You don’t need to have a background in education. We’re looking for someone who is curious and thoughtful. Someone who is willing to ask questions and passionate about inclusion and better outcomes for our young people.

The role is voluntary and takes around 6–10 hours a month.

Join Team Remarkable for the Walk15 Challenge!🚶‍♀️

We’re really pleased to be taking part in the Walk15 Challenge, running from 15th September to 30th April, and we’d love our Remarkable community to get involved.

We’re inviting all our students and learners at Ascent College and Wargrave House to take part, as well as, staff, families and the wider community. We’ll becompeting against schools and colleges from across Europe, with every step helping us climb the leaderboard! 🏆
It doesn’t matter how many steps you do – whether you’re walking the dog, going to the shops, heading out for a weekend walk or just getting a few extra steps in during the day, every step counts.

📬 Letters were sent home on Tuesday with more information about the challenge and how to join.

There’s no pressure to reach a particular target. It’s about getting moving, supporting our wellbeing and, most importantly, getting involved together as a community.

Come and join Team Remarkable - let’s see how far we can walk! 💙

A proud moment for Ascent College! 🎉

We’re delighted to share that we have achieved the National Autistic Society’s Advanced Autism Specialist Award in our very first year of application.

The award recognises the work we do every day to provide personalised, autism-informed support and create opportunities for our young people to develop confidence, independence and skills for adult life.

This achievement is down to the people who make Ascent what it is - our dedicated staff, amazing students and supportive families. Thank you for everything you do and for being part of our journey.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and excited for what comes next!
