An update on 'Little Reg' 🦉
The Barn Owl found at sea ⚓
You may remember the remarkable story of ‘Little Reg’, the Barn Owl who was found at sea, many miles from the coast. 🛥
We were involved in Reg’s rescue, working alongside some fantastic people who came together to bring this owl back to land.💚
A special mention must go to the crew of Fujitsu British Soldier, who spotted Reg while taking part in the RORC Round Britain and Ireland Race. Their quick thinking and concern for this tiny passenger helped set in motion the chain of events that ultimately brought Reg to safety.
A huge thank you also goes to Caister Lifeboat and Marine Wildlife and Rescue, who were involved in the rescue and played an important part in getting Reg safely ashore.
Following her rescue, Reg was taken into the care of the wonderful team at RSPCA East Winch, where she continues to receive the care she needs.
The latest update received, is that Reg has now been moved to one of their outdoor bird of prey aviaries, where she is getting closer to being able to get back out into the wild. ✨
We’re delighted to be able to share these lovely photos from East Winch to see how this little survivor is getting on. 💚
It was an extraordinary rescue from beginning to end, and a brilliant example of what can happen when people come together to help wildlife in need.
So, a huge thank you to the crew of Fujitsu British Soldier, Caister Lifeboat, Marine Wildlife and Rescue, RSPCA East Winch and everyone else who played a part in giving Little Reg a second chance. 💚
We’ll keep you updated on Reg’s progress and fingers crossed, there will be more good news to share soon.
