Newport parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9am in the grounds of Tredegar House. It is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun here. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! After the run, if you don’t have to get off straight away, there will be the chance to socialise with everyone at Brewhouse Café in the main courtyard of Tredegar House, to maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other runners over a cup of tea or coffee and just be an important part of this new running community. So whether you are a complete novice looking to get yourself started on your own "running journey" or a seasoned athlete wanting to use this as a part of your training schedule, you’re welcome to come along and join us.

🚨Newport parkrun cancelled tomorrow 🚨
Unfortunately, due to the forecast storm(s) and Tredegar House making the (sensible) decision to close the grounds today, we have made the early decision to cancel tomorrow’s event, not knowing if the grounds will be open, or safe for us to put the event on - participants and volunteers safety is very important to us. 😍

A warm welcome again to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board together with Stroke Association Wales and 5K Your Way. Move Against Cancer. Really showing how parkrun can be used for health and wellbeing.

This Saturday, 26th September we will once again, be hosting our Newport 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer group recognisable by their 💙 blue T shirts.

We are also pleased to be welcoming Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supported by Stroke Association Wales who are shining a light of neurological conditions (see link below).

Walking some or all of our lovely course and enjoying a cup of coffee afterwards - there’s no better way to start your weekend.

More than a milestone…

Marie Moore brought a real spark to this morning’s event - celebrating her 25th parkrun and showing what living an active, joyful life looks like.

Fourteen years after donating a kidney to her husband, she’s still out there choosing movement, community, and to start her weekend the parkrun way.

And, while Marie was ticking off her 25th parkrun, her husband was out cycling, powered by her kidney doing its weekend miles too.

A brilliant milestone, and a reminder of the strength that shows up when you lace up and join in.
