Some busy Cubs tonight:
We've been (deep breath), learning about when to plant and harvest different vegetables and fruit, cleared more of our garden, planted up the planter at the front of the hut with pollinators, planted seeds, made plant labels and discovered lots of different mini-beasts.
As is becoming our new tradition, our Cubs lead games each week - this week was a twist on dodge ball, with 5 balls, and pink elephants .....

A MASSIVE well done to both of our Scouts who completed their Expedition Challenge Award badge this weekend.
Saturday was a 8.8 mile hike to Walesby, map reading to find their way. At Walesby, they pitched their tents, cooked their own tea, and were asleep by 10pm 😱🥱😴
Sunday morning, they made their own breakfast, struck camp and then off on a 7.4 mile hike, which then ended up back at Walesby.
A great time was had by all.

A massive thank you to our Scouts and our Scout leaders for making this possible. Hot bath and large drink prescribed to all (hot chocolate for the Scouts)!

We are blessed at 1st Coddington to have a grass and garden area to the back of our hut.
Our Cubs tonight have started to tackle the garden area which has become rather overgrown, so we can start to get it planted up.
Well done to all the Cubs - you worked really hard tonight 🏡🪏🐌.
AND then, an added bonus:
One of our newer Cubs has achieved their Bronze Chief Scouts Award, and thank you Sharon for coming along to present it.
And a Silver Chief Scouts Award for one of our older Cubs.

These are not easy badges to achieve, and the highest awards for the Beavers and Cubs. WELL DONE to both 🎉

A fantastic 'Bring a Friend' session for our Beavers tonight.
The Beavers helped set up the giant snakes and ladders 'board' and loved playing it.
Amazing to see our Young People taking responsibility and building on their own confidence levels.
They are also learning their own Wellerman dance - that WILL be posted at some point (watch this space!).

We will always welcome ANY questions about Scouting.
We are inclusive, we have fun, we are youth led, we are outdoors and indoors, we play games, we go on camps, we cook, we go on visits, we go hiking, we learn about the environment, we have campfires, we work with our community, we scale heights and learn things about ourselves that we never knew, we achieve things we never thought we could.

What an amazing job by one of our Scouts this weekend, who has been tidying up the front of our Scout Hut.

Sennan has been selected, along with one of the Explorers from 1st Balderton Scout Group, to represent Coddington, Newark and Nottinghamshire at the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland next year.

He wanted to 'give back to the group that has helped shape this wonderful opportunity'
