We're not just leaders, we're changemakers! That's why we make a real difference. πŸš€

We are leaders β€” not experts. We’re your neighbours, your friends, ordinary people who care deeply about giving young people extraordinary opportunities. We’re not perfect, and many of us are parents just like you.

We don’t have extra hours hidden away in our week. We work full‑time jobs, juggle families, and do our best to keep life running smoothly. The only real difference is this: we believe passionately in what Scouting offers. That belief inspires us to give our time, our energy, and our skills so that all children β€” yours and ours β€” can grow through Scouting.

In our first year, we complete 13–20 hours of training, and every term we meet to plan programmes that excite, challenge, and support every young person who walks through our doors. We try to involve parents, even those who feel they can’t spare the time β€” and we celebrate every act of generosity, big or small.

Yes, sometimes we get stretched thin. We forget things. We run out of steam. Communication slips. But none of that means we care any less. Behind the scenes, we spend countless evenings seeking advice, sharing ideas, and finding solutions β€” because these young people matter to us.

And they make it all worthwhile. Their determination fills us with pride. Their laughter fills a room. Their β€œthank you” fills our hearts. Through Scouting, they learn to build friendships, overcome challenges, and grow into the best versions of themselves. Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly… we teach these values, and often we relearn them right alongside the young people we mentor.

We are mentors. Role models. Leaders. Volunteers who have made a Promise to give young people the most precious gift we can offer β€” the gift of time

If you feel you can give that gift too, we would love to welcome you into our team of amazing volunteers across Newark & District Scouts.

Collingham Scouts have a brilliant year ahead, with six camps planned as well as gliding, canoeing and trips to the observatory and space centre.

With around 45 to 50 young people involved, it is a busy and exciting time for the group.

They would also love more volunteers.
